Be heard the way you want to be with the 250-watt JBL JRX115 speaker.

You can tune up your instruments, add effects, and balance the mix to perfection, but your live sound is still only as good as your PA speakers. If they can't deliver, neither can you. You work hard on your music and you want your audience to hear all of it. JBL's JRX15 provides uncompromising sonic performance so you can be sure the crowd gets the full experience, just the way you intended.

Superior Quality Control

JBL has been creating pro-quality audio gear for more than 60 years, and the long tradition of excellence is obvious in JRX-series loudspeakers. The woofer and the tweeter are manufactured by JBL engineers in their Northridge, California facility. Close attention to quality control means your speakers will perform true to form so you always sound your best.

Drivers and Electronics

For big bass and midrange power, JBL uses a 1x15-inch woofer. The one-inch exit compression driver handles the highs with crisp, natural clarity. It is coupled with JBL's Progressive Transition Waveguide horn, which increases high-frequency coverage and improves the stereo image-field. Combined, these two speakers accurately reproduce all frequencies between 38 Hz and 16 kHz. An internal 1.6 kHz crossover helps guide each frequency to the most efficient driver, for clean tone across the entire range. Your bassist will sound punchy and deep, guitar solos will never sound tinny or thin, and vocals will cut through the mix with warmth and feeling.

Safe, Reliable Operation

read more To protect your investment, JRX loudspeakers include SonicGuard circuitry. Harmful energy overload from dropped microphones, amp clipping, and feedback is automatically absorbed before it can damage the drivers. Accidents happen, but your speakers shouldn't have to suffer for them. Even under normal high-stress operation, lesser cabinets can fail. The JRX115 passed JBL's strenuous 100-hour full-power torture test. You can use your speakers at their full rated capacity, night after night, with no loss of performance. With a 250-watt power capacity and 1000-watt peaks, you have plenty of headroom to play your music at high volume with no distortion. JBL recommends a 250-500 watt power amp to drive the cabinet.

Cabinet Construction

When you think JBL, quality electronics come to mind. This is true, but their cabinets are just as fantastic. Built with 3/4-inch MDF material and advanced adhesives, they are denser, more rigid, and acoustically superior to the particleboard construction used in other enclosures. The trapezoid design lets you use the JRX115 as mains or wedge monitors with equal effectiveness. Large, non-resonant steel handles help with load-in/out, and an eighteen-gauge steel mesh grille covers the entire front baffle. Both drivers are protected, so no more horror stories about poked-out cones and hefty repair bills. A strong cabinet is critical for tight, clean bass response. Combined with the power and depth of the 15-inch driver, you may discover the JRX115 gives all the low end sound you need, without a subwoofer. You just saved your wallet, and your back, a lot of pain.

Dual-Action Stand Mount

PA speakers usually perform better when mounted up high. If your mains sit on the floor, the first few rows get blasted while the rest of the crowd wonders why you sound so muddy and unfocused. Speaker stands get the mains up in the air, but unwanted reflections off the back wall can often lead to feedback problems. The JRX115 features JBL's dual-action stand mount to provide full-room coverage with no reflection issues. The mount gives you the option to position the mains up high, but with a ten-degree downtilt. This gives you all the sonic dispersion you need, but prevents the reflections from interfering with your music. Everybody in the room gets a great mix, enjoying your songs as they are meant to be heard.

Flexible Connectivity

Don't worry about having to start from scratch to take advantage of all that these speakers can bring to your music. JRX115's are designed to integrate into any PA system with ease. Back-panel connections include both 1/4 in. and Neutrik Speakon jacks to accept a variety of amplifier or powered mixer outputs. Run two cabinets for stereo mains, or daisy chain multiple JRX's for vocal or instrument monitors on the stage. The uses are varied but the professional-quality sound is always the same.

"These speakers are in the same league as speakers that cost more than twice the price."

For anything less than a few hundred people I don't see switching to anything different. It would be very reasonable to add another set for increased coverage.
Sound
These were purchased for small clubs and venues, and after hearing them am very impressed. Not like previous low-end JBL speakers I have used. The low end is rich, high end crisp, and mids give great vocal quality. Well worth the price. I would not hesitate to stack/splay these as needed to add coverage. If you want inexpensive tops, these are a great choice, and the QSC GX-5 is a great match for the power specs of the JRX115 when running a 2-channel system. With the 98dB sensitivity there is no problem getting more than enough good sound from these.
Features
Keep in mind that there are two inputs - a single Speakon and a single 1/4" jack. So if you daisy-chain your speakers, and have standardized on Speakon or 1/4" speaker cables, you need to keep this in mind. For those of you (like me) who have a bad back from many many years of lugging equipment, you will be please at the reasonable weight of these.
Quality
These are carpeted, so you have the usual lint builds up and they pick up dirt, but the threads are short, so it is minimized and not bad. Nothing a vacuum cleaner or lint-brush can't handle if it gets to rough looking.
Value
This speaker out-performs many speakers I have use that cost twice the price. Without a doubt one of the better speakers sets I have used.
