I have always played Fender and Hofner since I was a kid. My early Hofner and a nice deep clean sound and the short scale was easier to play. I always preferred the Fender sound and quality so that was what I played most. My fender is almost 50 years old so I bought the Hofner Club so that the Fender can stay at home. I chose the club because I had a reasonable experience with Hofner in the past. I am older so the short scale is desirable. However I was surprised to find that the switches were connected oddly. With both switches in the on position they are both off. When I move the treble pick up to the off position the bass pick up is on and vise versa. OK, I can live with that. They work. However the sound, even after changing to flat would strings is not what I expected or experienced before. I cannot get a deep clean sound that I used to associate with Hofner. I would not buy this again nor would I recommend it. I rated mfg support because I had to in order to submit review but I have not contacted the mfg so no idea about support.
