In 33, of self taught (on a classical acoustic) years of banging around on guitar, being in countless bands, and "leveling up" over and over again to a point of going from hearing my friends and family say "you're not bringing your guitar are you??" too "are you bringing your guitar?", I've played a LOT of guitars, acoustic and electric alike, all types and models, all different price ranges and styles, and one thing always remained the same...if you wanted an amazing sounding acoustic guitar from the Gibson lineup, one would have to spend upwards of there or four grand, and even then it was still hit or miss. Well, the Studio series has CHANGED all of that!!! I ordered a Martin DCPA-4 A/E originally, and when it arrived, straight out of the box, I noticed a blemish on the top of the guitar, just below the soundhole. It looked as if someone had dented it, then covered it up with a lawyer coat, and it was "in your face" ugly and irritated the c®∆p out of me to no end. Not only that, it didn't have the right electronics (no tuner) and had an inch long crack on either side of the battery casing. I called zZounds and informed them of the unacceptable condition that my MARTIN guitar arrived in, to which they assured me that they would make right. I inquired about a Gibson Hummingbird Studio series with Walnut back and sides, a Sitka spruce top, in antique natural style, that hadn't previously been on the website at the time of the Martin purchase, but I decided I couldn't afford read more it, and with the DCPA-4 being rated one if the top 3 acoustics under $2k, surely I couldn't go wrong ordering a replacement. Much to my astonishment, in an effort, (a successful one) to make me a happy, satisfied customer, the AMAZING, GLORIOUS, OUTSTANDING, THANK YA JESUS, team at zZounds offered me the Gibson at the Martin price (a substantial difference) and I am beside myself, with the sound and playability, of this FINE, FINE, FINE, instrument. When it arrived, it came in a box from Gibson, and enclosed in another box, unlike the Martin. Also unlike the Martin, the Gibson came in a BEAUTIFUL hard case, with many extras, from a cloth to clean it with, a truss rod tool, a leather pick case key chain deal with GIBSON stamped on it (coolest thing ever) AND a genuine leather strap, with the Gibson logo stamped on it as well. Now..to the sound and playability. Like ai said, I've rested my head on a many acoustic guitar, in an ongoing search for that one vibration, that one sound, that would be both pleasing, and soothing to a HARD to impress, perfectionist, who can hear the slightest inconsistency, and most faint buzz that a lesser than perfect guitar can give off...I am beside myself with this guitar, and can get lost for hours in it's beautiful, crisp, full, clear sound, so clear, that even when I dig in hard on a bar chord, it still rings out loud and true. For me, this guitar has revived my faith in Gibson's acoustic lineup, and I will NEVER part ways with my dream guitar. If you are looking for an both amazing sound, and aesthetically comfortable to play, acoustic guitar, then you have found it. I will never need another high end guitar again, and look forward to my Gibson increasing in both sound quality, and value, for many, many, years to come. My only small gripe, is with the electronics...they are lacking somewhat, but not enough for me to give this guitar anything less than FIVE FULL STARS!!
