Rosewood fretboard Open, warm tone and smooth playing feel

The Gibson SJ-100 Super Jumbo acoustic-electric guitar is an instrument with a massive sound and a classic style. Its tone is jumbo indeed, owing to its all solid-wood design. The North American Sitka spruce top is bright and responsive, with a remarkable amount of overtone and color. The mahogany back and sides further shape its distinct tone, while lending the guitar a huge degree of durability and resilience.

They Really Mean "Super Jumbo"

The Gibson SJ-100 wouldn't be a Super Jumbo if it didn't measure 17 inches across at the widest point on the body. This makes it at least an entire inch wider across than most acoustic guitars out there! As a result, you've got an acoustic instrument here that offers tons of throw and range. The neck is a comfortable and meaty affair as well, measuring 1.725 inches at the nut. The nut itself is high-quality Tusq, which keeps the strings vibrating cleanly with zero cross-resonance across the headstock. The fingerboard is all rosewood and features 20 frets, with clear access up through the 14th. Mother-of-pearl dot inlays provide an understated accent on 6 frets.

L.R. Baggs Element Pickup Onboard

The Gibson SJ-100 Super Jumbo acoustic-electric comes with an integrated L.R. Baggs Element pickup system that allows you to plug it in and get a great sound right away. L.R. Baggs is known for creating some of the world's finest acoustic transducers, and the custom system that was designed for the SJ-100 is no exception. It was read more specially designed to ensure that the pronounced low end of the Super Jumbo wouldn't be lost when plugged in.

Old-School Elegance

The look of the SJ-100 is totally classic, with a light top finished in hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer. The distinctive Super Jumbo bridge is inspired by the revolutionary design dating from 1941 -- a detail only found on a few surviving historical specimens. The terraced fire stripe pick guard in nitrocellulose is a replica of the first SJ-100s from 1939.

Speak Softly, But Carry a Big Guitar

If you're considering a Gibson Super Jumbo guitar, the SJ-100 is a more modest choice visually than the SJ-200. However, it totally embodies the impressive sound and throw of the other Super Jumbos. And of course, the SJ-100 is 100 percent handcrafted in the USA at Gibson's Montana facility.

I love this SJ100 from Gibson. Love the sound nice deep bass and a sparkling high end with plenty of volume. Strum it,Flatpick it, finger pick with it the SJ 100 does it all with the classic Gibson sound. Excellent set up out of the box all that was needed was a small truss rod adjustment. To me a good Gibson with that classic Gibson sound is the best acoustic there is.
