I have been very critical of Gibson as of late, (owned dozens) and swore I was done with the brand. But something just said 'try this' to me. Reluctantly I ordered from zZounds ( reluctant to order another Gibson, not reluctant to order from the great folks at zZounds, that is) , and it arrived in less than 18 hours. Ordered at 5:00 on a Friday, guitar arrived around 10am the next day. My my, flawless! Finish had NO orange peel, no tool marks, no uneven spots, no rough edges, just mirror like perfection! And get this: fret edges ( my biggest pet peeve) were absolutely perfect. No razor like fret ends, all rolled and finished great, like Gibson of old. Now the sound? Pure Rock and Roll! I play through a Hot Rod Blues Jr ( simple as can be) with no effects, just what tone I can squeeze from an amp and guitar. Since guitar has only one pickup, and one volume and tone knob, I was curious how many tones I could squeeze out or would this guitar be a one trick pony. Wow! Setting the amp where I want it for leads, with guitar full blast, then dialing back on volume, I found a sweet spot in just a few minutes. Then, if adjusted just right, the tone knob could almost be mistaken for a pickup selector switch, the changes were THAT distinct and dramatic! The fit, finish, intonation and action were 100% spot on when I opened the case. Not a single adjustment needed at all. Kudo's to Gibson and the new management team. The quality control seems to have made great strides and I am very pleased read more with this, so much so that I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Well done, Gibson! You brought an almost gone forever customer back from the edge of walking away with the stunningly great turnaround job you did on this one. Very pleased.
