"The Gibson Firebird Zebrawood is not just another bird knockoff by Gibson. It is a truly unique version of the guitar Gibson has"

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I play professionally and have been doing so since the firebird first came out in 63. I expect I'll be playing this bird along with my other firebirds. Doubt that I would buy other models. It's always been firebirds for me.

Sound
I own 9 original reverse Firebirds from 63-65 period and I rate this new Zebrawood model as coming very close to those original pickups in the other guitars. I would say the sound of the zebrawood is 90 percent or better to the original magnetic mini humbuckers.

Features
I like the detail Gibson has given on this bird to the originals. Top hat knobs are same as originals. All the hardware is authentic except for chrome pickups and bridge compared to nickel on the originals but a small matter on a work horse guitar like this

Ease of Use
Guitar is a smoker, very easy to play, even easier than the original birds because of the oiled neck with no varnish. A very fast neck with a precision for the fastest of lead players

Quality
Quality is supreme on this instrument. Better than the original firebirds. Destined to be one of the modern classics

Value
This firebird is worth more than its selling price. It will show in the future that the selling price was very small compared to what this limited edition of 400 will be selling for ten years from now. It is one of the first unique firebirds made by gibson read more in years. It is not just another knock off of the originals.

Manufacturer Support
Don't really know, nothing has gone wrong with the guitar

The Wow Factor
Sex appeal is tops. It is a real attention getter and a great playing guitar to boot
