Fender CD-60 V3 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (with Case)

Featuring scalloped X-bracing, a spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides, the Fender CD-60 V3 Dreadnought is an incredible value for beginners.

The CD-60 dreadnought boasts features you'd expect on much more expensive instruments, with a spruce top and a gloss polyurethane finish. Upgrades include a black pickguard and mother-of-pearl acrylic rosette design, walnut bridge with compensated saddle, white bridge pins with black dots and smaller (3mm) dot fingerboard inlays. Features include scalloped "X"-bracing, black body binding, 20-fret fingerboard, dual-action truss rod and die-cast tuners. Hardshell case included.

"Good, but not great"

While this has a decent tone, it's not going to improve with age as the top is a laminated top--not solid spruce. Moreover, since this is a guitar targeting the beginning student, I mark it down because the setup is NOT conducive to the beginner. The action needs to be lowered and the Fender branded DuraTone strings it came from the factory with feel more like a medium gauge than a light gauge. I have a 12-string Yamaha that is easier to play than this. But to give it some props--the price includes a hardshell case--something no other guitar in this price range offers. And the abalone rosette is a nice cosmetic touch. The tuning machines turn smoothly and it does hold a tune very well. And for those who object to Chinese-made guitars, this was made in Indonesia.
