This bass is more beautiful in person. I ordered the sunburst. I really wanted a passive bass. I’ve recently got into more jazz fusion music and wanted a jazz bass. There are some pretty cool tonal options, maybe not as much as a more expensive jazz bass. I couldn’t say, this is the first jazz bass I’ve owned. But I think any bass player could dial in a tone on this bass that they liked. It’s simple but nice. I think a bass is better off being simple. I didn’t think I would like the wider neck as I’ve only played slim Ibanez Basses. But I actually am loving this wider neck. The back of the neck is almost flat so it makes for better playability. It has a very fast fluid neck. I don’t know how it would sound with a live band being a passive instrument but I am sure with the right amp and equipment you could get the perfect volume and sound. Overall I’m very happy with this instrument.
