"Purchased to replace my pioneer XDJ-RX2"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I had a great experience with Pioneer over the years up until I received terrible support after purchasing their s all in one controllers: they simply would stop working1/2 way through a show (embarrassing to say the least). I then decided to give Denon a try despite my limited experience with the brand as a whole. I was not only surprised but I was immediately taken back by the build quality of the controller itself. The software is easy to use and the multiple inputs were fantastic (laptop, USB, etc). One of my favorite features has been selecting 4 tracks in advance (small feature but an awesome one). I’ve never had any “booting issues”, jog wheel issues, or the notorious “freezing” issues I had with my previous Pioneer controllers. The best part is always zZounds customer support (which you get regardless of brand). I was able to pick up the warehouse open box for a few hundred off which is always a plus. I originally purchased the controller in 2019 and sold it last summer for a different controller. Now, here I am finding myself purchasing ANOTHER Denon Prime 4 to replace another brands controller. Needless to say, my overall experience with this deck has been nothing short of fantastic. Like anything there are brand specific quirks but it’s nothing you don’t eventually get used to. I definitely recommend.

Sound
Overall sound quality is fantastic, I wouldn’t use this as a standalone interface for recording vocals but in terms read more of deejaying and/or recording your set-it’s perfect.

Features
Overall quality is great. Lightweight but not cheap feeling. I do wish the pads had a ‘heavier feel’ but that’s really my only complaint (if you could even call it that…).

Ease of Use
Very easy to get a great sound from the Prime 4. The quality of sounds will be mostly be reliant on your ability to place your speakers in the correct areas as well as your mixing ability.

Quality
Reliability is my number one requirement when it comes to any deejay equipment. Nobody wants a set to stop mid set and have to reboot the deck. That has never happened to me with the Prime 4.

Value
The price in comparison to its peers is spot on. You get what you pay for-it’s not cheap but it’s more reliable than similar products in its price range.

Manufacturer Support
Haven’t dealt with Denon directly because zZounds has taken care of whatever I’ve needed (returns, questions, payments, etc).

The Wow Factor
The prime 4 delivers exactly what it promises and then some. Not much more you can ask for than that.
