Push Your Passive Speakers

Buying Guide: QSC Power Amplifiers

When you're choosing a power amp, the most important spec is its power output, measured in watts. To get the most out of your PA system, look at your loudspeakers' continuous/RMS power ratings (watts) and impedance ratings (ohms). Best practice is to pick an amplifier that can deliver about twice the continuous/RMS wattage rating of your speakers.

For example, let's say you have passive speakers with an impedance of 8 ohms, rated for 300 watts continuous power. To drive a pair of those speakers, you'd want an amp that can deliver 500-600 watts of amplifier power into 8 ohms on each channel, and the QSC GX5 power amp would be a great choice.

To compare wattages and ohm resistance ratings, click the amp you're interested in and check out the "Specs" tab on the product's page.
GX Series: Easy to Use, Great Value
Easy to use and reliable, QSC GX series amplifiers provide a straightforward solution for clean and portable power on a budget. These amps add the PowerLight supply to a Class H output section, giving them an excellent power-to-weight ratio. The GX series includes GuardRail limiting, which reduces gain during continuous clipping or overheating, protecting your speakers and preventing high distortion or shutdowns. GX series amps are available in lower wattages -- so they're a great fit for smaller PA systems that need reliable QSC power.

RMXa Series: Live Sound Staples
Following in the footsteps of QSC's long-running RMX series, RMXa amplifiers offer rugged construction and clean, consistent power thanks to their high-current toroidal transformers and huge filter capacitance. QSC RMXa series amps keep your signal consistent by removing high-level transients, delivering low distortion and a flat frequency response.

The outputs on each RMXa amp are directly mounted to the heat sink for improved thermal coupling and cooling. A full complementary output circuit using the highest-grade linear output devices delivers ultra-low distortion.
