I never thought I would be interested in effects for bass, but I had some money to burn, and ordered this. I've only had it a few days, but I think it's worth the money I spent. I set up an effect similar to an octaver, but an octave higher, rather than the usual octave lower. I can hear the effect even on the lowest E. An octaver doesn't sound so good on the lowest notes, being an octave lower, can't really hear the effect that low, but this effect I set up is great! There's also an actual octaver if you like that, sounds nice on higher pitches. I also like the hall reverb effect, and the delay effect. When I run my fingernail up and down the strings, it makes sound crazy sounds, but my cat doesn't like it so much. The Reggae patch it comes with removes almost all but the low bass tones, and by using it in a custom patch with the bass reduced some, and a few other tweeks, it gives a sound somewhat similar to a bass with flatwound strings, for playing older music like The Beatles. The growly roundwounds don't seem to fit that kind of music, so this helps a lot. Now I don't need two basses, and I can keep the roundwound strings. By stepping on the footswitch for 1 second, you get a tuner, very useful to have that. Now I don't need a separate tuner. There are other effects like distortion, delay, reverb, synth, and others I can't remember at the moment. Check out the PDF manual linked on this web page to see what it has. You can even use up to 4 effects together for even more variety. I takes a little practice to figure out how to set up sounds, but it's not that hard to do. With this stomp box, you probably won't need to buy a lot of individual stomp boxes. At least I don't. It's small enough to fit inside of my GCBASS case, too, so I don't need to buy a bag to carry it in.

I've had this pedal for a couple of years. I originally bought it for practice but I've been gradually replacing my pedalboard with it mostly because of three reasons:1. The compressor and limiter simulations are top notch. 2. The reverbs and delays are as good as any I've used before. 3. The Ampeg SVT simulation is something that I keep going to.As a bass player I only need very few effects and a good compressor. The rest of my sound comes mostly from the type of bass I use and my fingers.This pedal is perfect for all your effect needs. I'm surprised that more players don't use this pedal. Its cheap, easy to use and versatile.

This is my second MS-60B (my first review is here someplace). I've done the firmware update on my older one, so I already know I like this. I just wanted to have two of them for twice the fun :-)There's a sticker on the box that says it has version 2.0 firmware, so I don't have to update it this time - that's why I did this review, mainly. I only use Linux, and last time found a VM to run on VirtualBox to have Win7 to do the update. I was ready to try all that again, but now don't have to. A big "thank you" to Zoom (or whoever is responsible)!

This Zoom pedal is the best and easiest I have used so far after 20 years of experimenting with various models and brands. Well constructed and a very readable display. The sounds are very accurate and easy to program. Good job by Zoom!

i bought the Zoom MS-60B for my bass....... but in about 20 sec realized what potential it had for my acoustice guitar. i own a Fishman ToneDEQ Preamp EQ....so i can compare..... and for a lot less money you get a very cool tuner ! i can get a nice reverb, chrous, i use the Hartke amp ( has compression) and then use the bass bost as a "boost".... you really need to buy this thing and have it for a couple weeks, print out the manual on regular size paper, read it a dozen times, then get a beer or glass of wine, take an hour or two and putz with it...... reading other reviews..... i will point out.... tuner is very accurate and you can see it in bright sunlight ( worth its price alone) or a dark closet... i took it to both places .... but you need to go to settings and set it up. it runs on 2 AA batteries and eats them. i built an A/C adaptor for about $1.00. i modified and stored the old skool setting to 31.... and then leave the boost as the display in the screen... with it off..... when i need it i push the silver switch.... i repeat, you gotta get your head around how this thing works..... when you do, you will be : 1. impressed 2. unable to figure it out and send it back 3. write a good or bad review depending on 1 or 2 above. it probally makes a great bass pre amp too !. i may buy another for my upright.

I bought this based on reviews and price. While I will say "for the price" it's not bad, it's really not a great sounding pedal.First of all, it seems to over-compress the signal...even with compression "off", which really decreases the dynamics of what your fingers are doing.The chassis seems rugged...but the display is quite difficult to see on a lighted stage. So, tuning on the fly is not optimal. I would certainly have paid a bit more for a brightly colored display with the typical green/red configuration.I play a Brubaker 5-string and I absolutely LOVE the sound of it. I was hoping this pedal would add effects without coloring the basic tone. In other words, still sound like MY bass...but with distortion, chorus, etc. added as enhancement. But, this pedal totally hijacks the original character of the instrument.Overall, this pedal could be a fun toy for a hobbyist. But, not a very useful pedal for a pro....and, because of the dull display, it doesn't even make a very good tuner.
