Yamaha SM12V Club V Passive Unpowered Loudspeaker (1x12")

Yamaha does it again with the SM12V Club V 12" loudspeaker. Nobody else combines quality with affordability as well as Yamaha. Unpowered. Requires separate power amplifier.

"Good monitors, somewhat big & heavy"

These monitors work well for what I need. I'd have to agree with most everything about the other review here. They are definitely above average monitors at an above average price.
Ease of Use
The physical dimensions were a bit bigger than I expected. I used to have dirt cheap 15 inch monitors, and these 12's are nearly the same size, at least in terms of face width. They also top over 50 lbs, so a 120lb soprano will probably not be helping you move them around.
Quality
Overall, they feel like Yamaha has a good reason to make them the size and weight they do and think that translates directly into quality, at least build quality. As for audio quality, I haven't had much trouble with them. They were a big step up from our previous monitors so it's hard to be critical. If I had audio quality issues with my current system, I'd be more likely to start tweaking EQ first.
Manufacturer Support
I've never had to call Yamaha directly for anything.
The Wow Factor
No problems at all with zZounds and the ordering process.

I would likely stay with this product unless something came along that really surpassed it in sound quality without a significant price jump.
Sound
Does well with instruments and lead vocals in a band, but lacks a bit in the clarity department when used for multiple vocalists.
Features
It is what it is, A monitor.
Ease of Use
Straightforward design, 1/4 or Speakon and you are good to go.
Quality
I have 4 and all seem to be the same with equal performance.
Value
Upper middle price range for an upper middle product.
Manufacturer Support
No support needed.
