Feature:
Rich in features but you have to buy a "Survival Kit #1" for an adaptor, some cheap earphones (I'd rather have a USB cable), a plastic foot pedal but you also get one additional year of warranty.
I would have given it a 10 if it had come with a power adaptor and USB cable. This thing can run on batteries but you'd have to have pretty deep pockets & and otherwise foolish to run it on batteries for regular use. I find the whole "survival kit" approach (Yamaha has three of them) pretty frustrating. Adaptors for units like this shouldn't be an option; they should come standard.
Quality:
Looks good, feels solid.
Value:
I got what I wanted for the price I was willing to pay except I had to pay extra for the power adaptor. I shopped around - Casio etc, but this one fit my needs best. I wanted one with a USB, external speakers, simple to use for a newbie but feature-rich, and a company known for good support. I think I found the right combination.
Desirability:
I love it.
Sound:
The sound is outstanding and the features are plenty. The percussion instruments and horns are pretty darn good; the guitar sounds less so. Still for the price I found nothing as rich in options and Yamaha support has been great. I'd
Ease of Use:
Easy. I don't know jack about keyboards - I just play guitar. I have having fun, learning things and playing music right out of the box.
I wanted a keyboard one with USB so I would work with my MacBook Pro. This unit has USB (but no cable) and some songs on a CD for tutorial purposes but its WINDOWS ONLY (bummer). I called Yamaha (quick support service and easy to work with) and they told me they have no plans for developing MAC training software.
.
Support:
I called and asked about MAC software support. They were good to work with and I didn't have to wait long for tech support. very impressed. They even called back to make sure I got my questions answered.
Overall:
The unit itself is great. It deserves a 10 but coming with a power adaptor ticked me off because I had to go back to the store after my purchase and get one, and time and gas = lost money.
