"P95B Review"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Yeah, my P95B was chosen in my search for piano replicants with a good balancing price vs. quality. Walking through some stores in Brasil I've come to a very good Casio and this Yamaha P95B. Clearly, in spite of Casio's superiority in 128-voice poliphony and dozens of timbres, sound and feel at first glance led me to this wonderful Yamaha's entry in piano categories. Keyboard satisfies with a great weighted action gradually heavier in bass notes. A few kg to carry, very light indeed. Piano caracteristhically balanced in tones, pleasant to hear in own speakers, all in all a good buy! Extra sounds added convenience to the packet. Negatives? Well, we have no screen to see our moves and, worst, combinations of two or three keys in keyboard give us parameters like balance of dual voices, Reverb deep, MIDI channel and so on. However, we can live with these limitations, for it's an affordable product of high quality! Also lack of sliders? Doing these adaptations would certainly cost more!

Sound
We ordered this a couple of weeks before Christmas...... I was surprised at how quickly it was shipped out and arrived! The sound is great..... the keys have a nice touch and weight. We have been getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. I did order a heavier damper pedal to replace the one that came with it. We love it!
Features
we like to use both the "piano" and the "pipe organ". Full size key board but doesn't take up the amount of rooom that a big piano would. Great sound!
Ease of Use
Very easy....... nice touch to the keys....... great sound!
Quality
Very nice quality....... we purchased the stand also and it was super easy to set up.
Value
Very nice instrument for the price

Sound
The source sound quality is fantastic except the built-in speakers can distort at times when max volume is used.
Features
It does everything it needs to, except it doesn't have a screen - which is well worth trading for the price.
Ease of Use
Again, fantastic source sound and key action is good.
Quality
Made very well for the price.
Value
Very well worth the price. This is an excellent digital piano regardless of price as well.
Manufacturer Support
Have not dealt with them.

"Yamaha P95 Keyboard"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

This is a nice sounding keyboard. The grand piano voices are very realistic. The controls are easy to use and the keys feel very much like a real piano. I do like this keyboard a great deal but it would be nice if it had some basic synth sounds. This is on MINOR short coming of the keyboard. The only other item would be the sustain does not hold long enough. The sustain does hold better is you are amp'd and can use the sound system to help out. Overall, I would rate this a 9.5 on a scale of 10.0 as a keyboard. It is a great value for the dollar!!!
Sound
The sound quality is good for a lesser expensive keyboard. It plays basic music styles well. The different voices are well developed
Features
The Grand Piano sound is the most useful voice, the voices and strings are a nice addition. The other voices I could do without.
Ease of Use
Easy to use, easy to select voices
Quality
Seems to be made very well
Value
There is good value in the purchasing this product if you are looking for a good basic keyboard.
Manufacturer Support
I have not dealt with the manufacturer
The Wow Factor
This is a very nice product for those on a budget. I would have preferred a higher level of keyboard, however, this is a NICE keyboard for the money spent

"More like a plastic toy piano than Pro-keyboard"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars

I had this thing on the way back to Zzounds the same day it was delivered.
Sound
Compared to my old Yamaha P-100, the tones were very tinny and weak. 12 watts is not enough to fill a small home studio.
Features
Average for this price keyboard
Ease of Use
Very easy to use. Very few buttons.
Quality
This is very poorly constructed PLASTIC attempt to reproduce what originally had the best reputation in the industry. I don't know how the samples sound so great in the yamaha advertising hulla ballou..likely, the samples played are NOT from the P-95.
Value
I'd say this product is ok for its low low price; however, you get what you pay for and worse, yet, you pay for you get!!
Manufacturer Support
I've owned over 20 Yamaha Organs/Pianos/keyboards/workstations in my career and have dealt with their support division quite a bit. I've never been disappointed. There have been some times when the technical support tech didn't know an answer; however, we'd work together for a couple days and colaborate a solution.
The Wow Factor
As a professional musician, I'd never consider this product line again. Start with the CP series and up if you want professional looking/sounding/feeling keyboard.

"Save your money and get something better."

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm already looking to replace it! And I've only had it a few hours!
Sound
The sound is awful. I have no idea why people are comparing it to the YDP-141. This sounds like a cheap keyboard. In fact, I kid you not, I've had cheaper keyboards as a kid - that sounded better than this! If you're gonna get it, be prepared to spend another $800 for a good synth module. The piano sound is hideous. The strings are a disaster. But it has weighted action keys! That's about the only thing the P95 has going for it. Don't waste your money. Wait until you can buy something better. A $500 keyboard sounds, well, cheap!
Features
Came with a power adapter and foot pedal.
Ease of Use
Turn it on and play. There's nothing wrong with the interface. It's the sound I don't like.
Quality
It looks good, wish I could say the same about the way it sounds.
Value
It's not worth it.
Manufacturer Support
You can't get in touch with Yamaha. I clicked on the contact link on their page and they want to re-direct you to a dealer. I'll keep this thing since I already bought it, but I'm going to get a synth module (like the XV-5080 or whatever they have out now) and never use the onboard sounds.
The Wow Factor
It looks good, sounds awful.
