Sound: This thing'll make you weep! Its the closet you'll ever come to playing that Steinway of your dreams, without plunking down 30Gs. Not only are the grand piano sounds chillingly realistic, it's got a ton of XG patches to boot. Just got mine (from Zzounds of course) so I haven't figured it all out yet. Tons of tones. It's tough for me to leave the house and go to work in the morning-I can't stop playing this thing. The EP patches are the real deal. These patches are the first ones I've ever heard that actually ARE a Wulitzer! Everybody has EP patches that always sound somewhere between a Rhodes, Wurlitzer and a DX7. If you've got em, this thing'll really bring back the memories! Feature: The onboard sequencing, aka 'recording' feature is nice, but I wish they would have incorporated a Smart Card or a SCSI device. It'd be a lot easier to upload and download patches. Although it still has full MIDI capabiility, I cna't believe they didn't include an optical or TDIF/SPDF output. Even my Motif has an optical out. I haven't recorded anything on my AW4416 yet, so who knows-maybe it won't make much of a difference. At first I thought the onboard speakers would be a little too hokey, even cheesy. But there's really no need to turn your amp, mixer and speakers on to play the P250. The built-in speakers sound surprisingly smooth, nicely balanced and very quiet. Playing by yourself there's more clean volume than you'll ever need. Quality: Fit and finish is excellent. It weighs a ton, so for gigs and jobbing I think I'll keep using my Alesis QS8. But, if you ever had a solo gig, man this is the one you'd buy the two-wheeler for-it'd be worth it. Value: You definitely get what you pay for here. No regrets. Overall: I've played everything. From Wurlitzers, to my CP70B grand, to Kurzweils and nothing duplicates the real grand sounds like the P250.

Sound: This keyboard has the best piano sounds you're going to get separate from using a multiple gigabyte sample. Feature: This keyboard has all the features one expects when purchasing a keyboard for two reasons: key feel and piano sound. Quality: It weighs 100lbs, most of the case is metal. Looks very clean. Speakers are what you'd expect for their size, pretty good, but much better through separate monitors. Value: It's a bit expensive for what it is. Although I've played every other competitor and they really don't match up. The Wow Factor: I lusted and then I purchased. Overall: If it was stolen, I would buy another one. It finally feels like I can put on headphones and play a piano. With a lot of keyboards it feels like you are playing a piano through an artificial interface. This has a very direct feel, as good as playing a real one can get. It makes me happy.

Sound: Well, were do I start, this piano feels and sounds like the real thing. The sound quality of the acoustic and electric pianos are extremely accurate and when playing the factory set grand, you can't stop. I have actually improved in my playing skills because I find it easy to play for hours on this thing. It inspires me to play, that's why I bought it after painstaking research. They are relatively cheap for what you get, one thing though, it is not for the light weights since you need to spend plenty of time in the gym to handle this beast, bulky and on the heavy side, but oh well. Feature: It is not the most intuitive layout for recording. Ease of Use: It takes a bit of scrowling around to find you patch, again not really intuitive. Quality: Made like a world war two tank and about as heavy as one too. But it feels like total quality during playing. Value: You can't beat the value for the amazing quality, built to last. The Wow Factor: It looks really good aesthetically, won't take away from your music or living room.

Sound: Best piano sound! Very Good XG but buy this for the piano sounds Feature: Small screen makes it complex to navigate. But loaded with effects and very good XG banks. Ease of Use: As said, a little hard to navigate through the small window and buttons. Scroll wheel would have been nice Quality: Built like a tank! Will last a lifetime. Value: A fine piece of musical technology, well constructed and well thought out from a musical perspective. Manufacturer Support: Don't know Overall: The best digital piano - closest to a real piano as I have played.

Sound: I actually bought one of these units. It DOES sound like someone is hitting the strings with a sledge hammer about an octave above middle C. It is impossible to sit down and play for more than a limited time without physical discomfort. Yamaha "support" said they have never had a complaint. So, I tried a couple other Yamaha's - another 250, and two console models that are closely related electronically. All had the same annoying ringing on the same range of notes. Interestingly enough, it seems that this effect is not present, at least to the same degree, on the line out jacks. The keyboard manager at the dealership played his demo unit and found even more wrong with the sound from its built-in speakers. They took it back with apologies. Buyer beware! Feature: Lots of good voices Quality: Mechanically good, but they apparantly don't listen to their product. Value: Not if it does not work for you. If it was not a defective design, it would easily be worth the price. Manufacturer Support: Friendly but useless in this instance. The Wow Factor: I wanted it because of the technical features in the new piano samples, but took it back because the sound is not good enough. Overall: One week was all I could stand. I wish I could have evaluated it in a more quiet location.
