The Yamaha MG12/4 will be useful to anyone that needs a quiet and respectable sounding 12x4 mixer. I would definitely buy it again.
Sound
The MG 12/4 has a super quiet noisefloor and a lot of useable headroom. EQ is useful and musical. The mic pre's are absolutely the best I have heard in any mixer in the $200 or less range. I use it for broadcast on internet radio, but this mixer would also be very useful for a small home studio for the purpose of producing clean sounding demos.
Features
Has all the right features and can handle all general purpose mixing situations. The connections it offers also make this mixer very universal as it employs balanced AND unbalanced input/output jacks.
Quality
This mixer is built like a tank and about as heavy. The faders are fairly smooth feeling and 100mm in size - a nice professional touch. The knobs are not wobbly and have nice center detents, all the buttons are secure feeling and not loose. The blue finish is pretty nice as well.
Value
Those of you considering ANY other brand of compact mixer of equal or lesser price - don't bother. Yamaha has always made excellent audio equipment and this compact mixer is no exception. Unlike some of the other brands with that silly "ALT 3-4" feature to let them masquerade as such - the MG 12/4 is a genuine 4-buss mixer. Worth the price, and then some.
The Wow Factor
If the term "useful" can be substituted for the term "sexy", then on a scale of 1 to 10 - this mixer ranks a 12.

"The price belies the quality."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I was thinking about buying a Mackie, then somebody told me about Yamahas MG mixers. The price scared me, because I was afraid it would be like the Behringer mixers... but I am pleasantly surprised. I did not expect it to sound and work as good as it does.
Sound
The mic-pres are a little bright, but sound great for the price.
Features
This rig has a wide variety of switching options... more than any mixer in it's price or size range.
Ease of Use
Once you read the manual, it's easy to use all of its features. Until then, you might be confused.
Quality
Built like a tank, runs like a Porsche.
Value
I think the mic-pres are worth the price of the mixer, and I would still buy it if it was $300. (I paid $200)
Manufacturer Support
I have no idea; I haven't needed any support.
The Wow Factor
It doesn't have that black-satin finish that a lot of people want, but it also doesn't have the jacks on top, so it should appeal to the masses.

"IF IT IS A DEMO YOU WANT; A DEMO YOU SHALL HAVE PROFESSIONAL SOUND ALL THE WAY!"

This mixer will do everything I am looking for. It is difficult to put a value on mixers when everyones taste is different when it comes to recording. I would say for the average guy that wnats to make a decent demo without going deep into your pocket, just buy reasonable products such as this mixer and you can't go wrong.
Sound
I have no toher suggestions at this time. The mixer is just what I needed and I quickly hooked it up and it is very impressive.
Features
I need extra hooks ups probably a patch board would be helpful. The mixer compnents are nice and there is nothing else extra that was not intended to use.
Quality
The shipment arrived on time with everything in tact. It is easy to use and user friendly for somewho show a lack in technology. I would use it for the road, but it is best suited to be placed secure and not to be mobil. If you use it mobil, I would have a permenent rack built to keep it in place and prevent damage. Its' priomamry goal I use it for is recording and that will not be mobil as far I am concerned. The less I pack on the road the beter it is for me.
Value
The price is great for a musician starting out small before going into heavy doillars. In any event, you may not want anything else unless you plan on spending thousands of dollars for equipment you already have. This mixer should meet all demands as long as you choose your tracks corectly for mix down. The mixer is wonderful and it adds a real bright feature in my studio. The appearance gives a money value that catches the eye. It is all worth every penny of it. No body should be dissatisfied about this product. You are getting your money worth and the price should meet every musicians pocket book wioth no problems and that is what sells quicker and faster, besdies your getting number one prime stuff. I would buy it again if I need too.
Manufacturer Support
No problems thus far. It runs great and as I said earlier it is exactly what I needed.

"Its the Mixer you won't want to miss"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Why wait for the next mixer, this one beats the rest in its pice range. Its the one you wouldnt want to miss out.
Sound
Unlike cheaper mixers, this awesome mixer beats the price barrier and yet maintains its ultimate goal of delivering clean and transparent mixes with good input/output tolerance levels. The insersts and preamps are professional in its structures and noise is minimised greatly. No regrets of getting this good sound from MG124. Well Done, Yamaha...
Features
Well-equiped and featured with all auxillaries and busses.
Quality
Excellent and no regrets.
Value
Excellent value for the bucks paid.
Manufacturer Support

Quality

Value
Mine was a return and I got it for $160
