Sound: The KX8 makes my VST's play great. (It doesn't produce sound. It's a controller!) Feature: The included software is really good. If you like Cubase, you will be home with the KX8. Ease of Use: Someone made a comment about the unit not having a transpose. But if you use VST's, you can program one of the controllers to transpose or you can use your mouse to transpose. My point is the KX8 is about those sweet Yamaha graded keys at a reasonable price. So stop bashing a great axe from Yamaha. I'm gonna buy another for my studio. The KX8 has no competition at this price. You have to buy a used digital piano to get the feel for the same price. Quality: I don't like the composite wood board on the bottom, but it certainly doesn't make the unit weak. The case is the same as the MM8 and is hard plastic that is scratch resistant. That's real nice. Value: The KX8 has no competition with weighted-graded. There's weighted units out there, but not weighted-graded at that price. Manufacturer Support: No problems here. The Wow Factor: It's a little bulky but has a clean, beautiful look to it. Kind of like a beautiful 5'9" 175lb lady (I'm alright with that!). Overall: I had a Fatar StudioLogic 990XL that was ok. I felt the keys were a little heavy and they were not graded. I had a M-Audio Keystation Pro and the M-Audio Prokeys. On both units the weighted keys were just a little clunky and they were not graded. The Fatar had a cleaner, more finished feel than the M-Audios. But the KX8's GHS feel is way better than either of those units. Much sweeter!

Sound: I really like it to learn play the piano. With EWQL Boosendorfer 290 it's a badass configuration. KX are Much better quality than CME UF series. No transpose, no aftertouch... so what ? For piano it doesn't matter. For super midi control you need spend atleast 1500$ so it's another story. For that price you can't go wrong with KX8 !

Feature: Total 100% inability to transpose notes. Whole octave shifts only. I bought it, called a supervisor at Yamaha to confirm that it cannot transpose, then sent it back. A basic function for anything calling itself a "controller", and it cannot do it! Overall: This keyboard does NOT...repeat does NOT transpose notes. So if you wanted to play that song in a higher key (such as from C to C#), forget it. You will be playing lots of black notes.
