Feature:
I like being able to compress the bass guitar and drums. There are programs you can use. The eq again is better then analog mixers. Unquestionably the best eq I have used.

Quality:
I have not noticed this mixer to be cheaply built. In fact it's the opposite. This is a quality product; well constructed that will last through all your projects. Only one concern: I don't like the battery in the unit because if it gets low, you have to bring it into a Yamaha personnel. I think I could change a battery myself. But that's the only downside to this mixer. The rest is all good.

Value:
The price of this unit is worth much more.

Desirability:
It looks good especially with the 100mm faders.

Sound:
The sound is very clean as with many high end boards. Endless possibilities to shape sound any way you want. This due to a remarkable parametric eq; it's unreal! I like to make my mix with tight punch bass. There is not need to purchase outboard units. Not only does the unit have it's own effects, compression and parametric eq; it's top notch stuff! So save your money.

Ease of Use:
If you don't know anything about digital mixers, take your time and read the manual; practice using it. All I bring is this unit, power amps and speakers. No more patching and no more carrying eq and effects units.

Support:
I have not dealt with Yamaha. But if the product is good, I prefer not dealing with the company and do my projects.

Overall:
At first I wanted to purchase the Onyx mixer from Mackie. They have great sounding products also. But once you use digital, you'll never go back to analog.

Value:
As I stated above, more for your money than the project stufio favs

Sound:
The original 01V I picked mine up of course used, and I had some cosmetic cleaning to do. I expected the bottom of the line operation from these mix boards, as low ratings like this exist. Now, as a PRO in audio, let me set my opinions out. 1) Functionality 10. LAst I checked my Mackie 32.8buss, or my Tascam M-3500 large format mixer DID not have compresion and gates on EVERY channel. Nor, was I able to save my EQ settings. But in the o1V, I had Compression, EQ, ability to save the EQ, 2 layers of SPX level reverb, and then, on the master channel, another gate and compressor. It sounds smooth, and ground loop analogue type issues are non existant. Why? Because it is a digital path. I was so impressed by this tiny mixer and all that it offered, I am going to step up to a Tascam M-3200. I can't wait! As for the ability to run my mix and play it back with motorized faders; it is just an added bonus, because it only speeds up my work. 2)Value. If you are running a big analougue desk, and you don't have the luxuries that are pouring forthe, from the smallest and weakest of a new line of digital mixers, you must ask yourself, why am I paying more for less? Last I checked, I could get a fireware into my computer, but that is too little too late. For speed, accuracy, cignal cleanliness, features, and harmony with the computer (Where it all ends up anyway) I wish I had read something like I am writing now, only 5 years ago!

Support:
There was no need for support, however there is not a hole hell of a lot about the original 01V online anyway

Overall:
More thanI expected.. Perhaps teh advertising was weak years past?

Feature:
When you are able to work with a computer, everything is good. The fact is that all features you can find in that mixer, if you know how to use it, man... that's THE one!!!

Quality:
I know that some people will probably tell that Yamaha is nothing Compare to SSL High Professional devices... OK... OK... But for the price, that's amazing. Sound quality, Controls are very nice, aesthetic is ok, that's all I want.

Desirability:
Simply, with the capacity to upgrade of the 01v96, and my needs, I JUST WANT IT!!!

Sound:
Personally, that is the best mixer I've use. I'm a student at Recording Arts Canada (At Montreal), And recently, the school just bought 10 mixer like that. I worked with Mackie Devices for a few years and now never more. All you want is include inside (presets and FX)and it is very easy to use.

Ease of Use:
If you know the 02R model of Yamaha, you'll find that 01V96 easy to use.

Support:
I had many Yamaha devices at home and that's always the same thing. It is tough sometime to find a place to repair Yamaha devices, but, unless that, you have a great customer sevices

Overall:
Overall, that's an other good product of Yamaha.

More than you'll probably need unless you get really serious and then you can cascade two of these babies for really cheap expanded mixing capabilities.

Quality:
Built like a tank. Quality finish.

Value:
High quality mixer, clean transparent sound, quality effects, and hooks up to your computer as a DAW controller!

Desirability:
Would I get this again, absolutely.

Sound:
Very clean, very non digital sounding. Top grade.

Support:
Haven't needed it, but the website has plenty of great information and you can download the user manual in case you forget to bring it.

Overall:
Yamaha make the world's best digital consoles used in the best concert halls in the world. The heritage makes it down the line in an affordable solution for the rest of us.

im sleeping with a picture of this under my bed at night.

Ease of Use:
Unless you are a computor expert this may be very difficult to use. I bought it to use in live sound on the road. Big mistake. This is a studio or broadcasting mixer.

Support:
Trying to get someone is like trying to get a service rep for your computer. The service center and I have waited for hours only to find we needed to talk to someone else and anothe several hours wait.

Overall:
I've had it 3 years and I'm replacing it with other products. It is very well made and practicle for studio or broadcasting and only if you are well trained which is what they do not provide.

Overall:
If you want a compact pro-spec digital mixer, this is the only choice in my opinion. Everything else I've tried close to the price range of the 01V96 just seems like a poor imitation. It sounds better than anything else of a similar size out there. If you know what you're doing with this mixer it is great as a live or studio desk - just don't expect a mixer with features as comprehensive as this to work like your old analog system, it's just not going to happen. My only criticism of this desk is that it only has 1 expansion slot, so I can only stream a maximum of 14 outputs from it digitally at 96k (you can get up to 26 digital outputs at 48k with the right expansion cards) but for the price, you can't really complain about that. The best mixer for the money, if you can handle the learning curve.
