Feature:
Lots of possiblilities, only quibble is 24/96 usage which reduces the capabilities of the board drastically. A spectrum analyzer would have been nice too, or is there one? The screen coulb be bigger and ... in color? I can't believe they're still pushing monchrome LCDs in 2004.
Quality:
Well built, no probs so far
Value:
Good value, the Behringer sort of kills that aspect though.
Desirability:
No more, I would go straight back to analog.
Sound:
We use this for a band live gig. Sounds very well, decent EQ and dynamics, reverbs etc are good too. However, the ADDA conversion + processing adds a noticeable delay to the live sound signal, a bit annoying when you're playing.
Support:
The best is not needing it!
Overall:
Please don't get me wrong, the 01V96 is a good product, but the waste of time induced by the poor control surface and screen added to the lag in sound due to the conversion/processing would make me choose a good old Soundcraft or Mackie Desk with a little ourboard gear. Even though total recall is nice to have, please tell me when you find disciplined musicians that use the same settings every time they power up (I don't). Obvisously there's a weight and size factor which is unbeatable by analog/outboard gear. As for home studio, my choice would be a strong PC configuration + a control surface and some good preamps.
