Warwick German Thumb 4 Electric Bass (with Case)

The punchy tone of the MEC J/J single-coil pickups combines with the rich sound of the Bubinga body to give the Warwick German Thumb 4 a powerful voice.

I wanted something different, high quality with easy playability and this beauty covers all basses (pun intended). I initially had my heart set on a Music Man Classic so I ordered one and while I was waiting for that bass to get back in stock I kept returning to this site to check out other basses and soon I noticed I was spending more and more time looking at the Warwicks this Thumb in particular. I was put off by the price at first but I knew these German Thumbs were the company's flagship bass and the quality was off the charts and I loved all of the sound clips I saw on YouTube so I canceled the Ray and ordered this bass. The bass arrived within a couple of days and I notice how heavy the package is? ( I forgot it comes with a flight case) it has to be the best packaging job I've ever seen it's triple boxed!. I finally get it out of the boxes and my jaw dropped the flight case is absolutely beautiful then I open the case and man oh man! I've owned a lot of basses but this one just took my breath away it's even covered in a mini blanket with "Warwick" stitched on the front the case candy is also over the top and includes everything you need for adjustments it even has the beeswax for your neck and body. Sound- it has active pups so it has that gorgeous and classic Warwick growl and because the pups are active there is no drop in volume in passive mode. In my opinion the neck is somewhere between a P and a Jazz and the flatter fretboard makes it easy to get around even for smaller hands. The controls are very responsive a little goes a long way with a twist of the knobs the Thumb can give you a warm and mellow sound or that classic growl . The bass ships with Warwick's EMP coated strings and I love them the coating is really thin so you don't even notice they are coated I love the balance these strings have and they are breaking in nicely. Looks- the wood choices are just beautiful and the fret job is the best I've ever seen everything about this bass screams high end even the click of the center detents is so pronounced. The bass feels so good especially the neck it's super fast. The bass came setup perfectly and was ready to go right out of the case. I did notice one thing because the bass has a natural finish you want to make sure the humidity level is around 46° my bass was a little dehydrated so after getting the humidity level up I polished the body and neck with the included beeswax. This is probably my six or seventh purchase from zZounds and I won't buy from anyone else the customer service is old school you talk to "real" people who take care of you in a very helpful and friendly also emails are answered same day. I love their staff make this your last bass purchase you won't be disappointed.
