this pedal makes you wonder why you ever bought anything else. if i was to describe what it does, it makes everything sound better. period. i will assume it was returned or set aside because the LED works intermittently. doesn't matter to me, because it's always on in my chain. always.

Musical Background:

15+ years of guitar, bass. intermittent work with bands, recording, solo work.

Musical Style:

"Hard to imagine a better compressor pedal"

Very transparent to the guitar tone, wide range of all controls to dial in any amount of compression effect or just go all clean boost. The blend control allows you to bring in your std signal and mix with compressed. I do not do the county thing but this makes your clean tones as well as gains sparkle with sustain and presence so much better than a clean boost effect. Really an amazing pedal. Wampler is just top shelf all the way!

Musical Background:

decades player, no longer gigging

Musical Style:

"Best Compressor on the Market"

I usually don't like compressors, but after listing to demo's on Youtube, I was willing to try Wampler's Ego Compressor. I am amazed on how good this one sounds. It is the most transparent compressor made today. You can get that country style squeeze as well, but I use mine left on and set to just sweeten the tone. It does that incredibly well. i have a lot of pedals that come and go on my board. This one, stays... If it got stolen, I would cry then order another one... Quick..

Musical Background:

42 year player... Semi retired now playing in church...

Musical Style:

Rock, Country, Blues, Christian.

Unit pops in and out when turned on and off with foot switch.Im in the market for an always on compressor, so not that big of a deal. Nonr the less, strike one. With the blend turned all the way to 100% comorssion signal, my acoustic guitar (Seagull Artist or Ovation c2078) tone was sucked dry and flat. Period. I messed with all the settings possible. Im runnimg this thing with mogami cables and fishman loudbox. So, strike two. Pretty big strike two. Lastly it costs $200! For that perfomance? Nah. Strike three. Back to my musical and effective Diamond cpr-1. Why did I think I needed to experiment anyway? For a discerning ear and in an acoustic situation its a no go for me. Dony believe the hypr!

"Cheap screws are a bummer"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
For a quality product, amazing they couldn't spend a few more cents on Phillips head screws made of metal hard enough that they wouldn't strip out on the very first attempt to open up the back of the box to replace the battery. These screws are so cheap and soft, it's like they're made of butter. Nuisance, now I have to get new screws to be able to use it.

Musical Background:

Played for 35 years, amateur guitar player

Musical Style:

Blues rock
