First the Bad News: I purchased this amp to be part of stereo ensemble. A loud whirring noise came through both amps once the stereo configuration was initiated. (I've never before experienced such an event using my stereo rig.) This amp uses a power adapter which converts AC to DC which may be the source of the noise. Before hooking up the stereo rig I tested the amp and found it to be most versatile with the digital FX being quite satisfactory, especially the chorus and delay. It lacks a fat bottom end but that was the only real 'knock' on this amp. (Adjusting the bass tone control helped some. Using an EQ pedal would likely work wonders.) The 'models' for the AC30 were quite good. I personally found the clean settings to be the most pleasing to the ear. Using a distortion pedal on the clean settings tended to be better sounding than the distortion effects created by cranking the gain knob. The other amp in my stereo rig is a Vox AC15C1 and the two sounded great together except for the noise interference. This would make a fine amp for a beginner and that it is so lightweight makes it ideal for bringing it when you travel. It handles effects pedals nicely and I experienced no noise when using pedals with just this amp.

I've been looking for a good practice/small rehearsal amp for about a year. I've got a lot of amps but wanted one that was smallish and light for rehearsals and such. While this one has a few drawbacks - external P.S., immature software, cheesy with a footswitch... what it does have is really good tone that feels substantial at most volumes. This amp makes you want to play! The amps models are good, the effects are adequate...fills the bill. The plastic cabinet couples to the baffle board so it barks! Same tech idea as a Marshall cabinet but little. Cool beans, Vox - Thanks!

I got GAS reading the description on the innovations introduced here. The cheap price is sure to limit acceptance. if it had LineOut, besides headphone out, it would be almost perfect. I really with it had a Speaker Out. I am sure it would drive either of my 12" cabs really well. It would be worth the few extra bucks to include such features. I am really satisfied, as I send headphones out to any other of my amps to use it through Mp3 inputs. Sounds great.
