"Such a cuty!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
As mentioned, it lacks a tuner and you can't store any presets. Maybe the fact it's mono (also on headphones) could set me off to search further but till now there's nothing available that beats the sound and runs on batteries.
Sound
Nice sounds, all basics you'd want are there. Noise can sometimes be a minor issue. It;s possible to adjust noisereductionlevels but the trade-off is lack of sustain and notes that do not completely sound all-the-way.
Features
I chose this one because the DA 15 has no battery operation possibilities. What it lacks are: - a guitartuner - storing possibilities and addressable memories
Ease of Use
It can't be easier except that the headphone jack could be on top in stead of at the back.
Quality
Looks like it could fall out of your hands without major damage. Mine had a nail misplaced in the cover for the batteries and had scratched the interior. Made in Vietnam ....
Value
Sure. I compared it against the Micro Cube of Roland which sells at about 2/3 of the price of the DA5 but the DA5 has more basic sounds and more effects.
The Wow Factor
In dutch I call it "Mijn Knuffelvox" which basically means that it's my cute little box to cherish like a pet. I also own a Vetta II and the Vox is used in the livingroom. Yes, I want it.

"Top Shelf Amp!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Doubt I'll shop around for another portable practice amp - this is definately worth the money.
Sound
sound quality is excellent! If I could alter one thing, I'd have an 'acoustic' setting.
Features
Glad that it came with it's own power-supply, and the fact that you can run it off batteries/or a small motorcycle battery (go to your local electronics store and buy the lead) is such a bonus!
Ease of Use
I play acoustic, and 'clean' is the sound for me. With the by-pass mode switched on, it sounds clean and clear.
Quality
Excellent build quality! If I could alter one thing, I'd have the shiny metal grill at the front sprayed black.
Value
10/10 for value for money. Can't fault the product. Very impressed and happy!!
Manufacturer Support
Not dealt with the company for product support.
The Wow Factor
The amp looks the business. Only fault is the naff 'bling' Vox logo on the front....too shiny! Black it out and you're on to a winner!

""That Great Gretsch Sound" comes through on the DA5"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Happy customer. Thanks, Vox.
Sound
To be fair, I use the "Clean 2" channel exclusively with my Gretsch Country Gentleman. Just a bit of reverb added, and this little amp does justice to the Filterton and Supertron pickups. I play a fingerpicking style and I find the sound from this little amp to be what I have been searching for in larger, more expensive amps.
Features
Lots of effects I do not use. The only improvement I could make, I would like to enable the onboard compressor and reverb at the same time.
Ease of Use
No problem. Put batteries in the amp and take your tone to the beach.
Quality
Does what I want it to do. Sounds good, looks great, no parts falling off.
Value
I auditioned the little Roland cube for comparison, and the tone of the Vox with the Gretsch is superior. At least, to my ears. At $139 the value is ridiculously good.
Manufacturer Support
I have no idea.
The Wow Factor
The Vox styling looks great. I feel like a Beatle. ;-)

"One of the best little AMPs"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
This is one of the best practice amps that don't take up much room and are easy to take out of the closet. Good sounds and easy to use.
Sound
Great sound for such a small amp. Cleans are good and can overdrive it nicely for blues and hard rock.
Features
Good for an inexpensive practice amp. You can plug and play without any effects processors or pedals for most styles.
Ease of Use
Easy to select amp models and effects. Tone control really works well for lowering the highs.
Quality
Have some buzzing from the control face plate but only with the volume turned high. Probably will need so glue to quiet it down in the near future.
Value
Good for the money.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't tried them yet.
The Wow Factor
This is a nice portable amp with good looks. It could look better without the metal grill which I don't care for much.

9, for a bedroom amp that is.
Sound
It has some very nice sounds in it. It is a bedroom amp, so you're not going to jam with friends, but it's great for in the room. I am really impressed with the sounds I can dial out of this little baby, from clean to some great rocking sounds. It took me awhile to get there, the amp has a little bit of a learning curve, but a very enjoyable amp to practice with.
Features
Features are nice, I mostly use Clean 1, Crunch 1, and Drive, they each are very good. Effects are nice, and once you learn how to control them you get some great stuff out of this amp. Gain also works like a bass knob. The wattage selector is nice for sure, lets you take any hiss out by lowering the wattage if you're playing really quiet. It does really well with pedals too. I use delay, verbzilla, and grey DOD 250 (belive it or not). Even though the amp has delay and reverb you can not alway use them together. The DOD makes some really rockin tones with the Da5. It blows me away actually.
Ease of Use
It took me several months to get really good at using all of it's features.
Quality
Seams very nice. Get the diamond cloth front if you can, it looks the sharpest.
Value
It is worth its price.
Manufacturer Support
Don't know.
The Wow Factor
Silly question.

"For the money, it's the best buskers amp you can get."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Totally satisfied for the price I paid. I haven't even tried the mic input yet but the fact that my guitar sounds great and the CD player come out clean is great. The mic input, although having one was a criteria, was important, but because I'm not a real singer I'll cut it some slack if I have to. I don't think I'll have to.
Sound
The clean sound is pristine and at first I thought it wouldn't be loud enough because the clean setting seemed to be a lot quieter than the other sounds. Even though it was and is quiter it is more than enough to busk with at busy bus stops. In the house it was a blast playing with the various levels of distortion. An awesome amp. It blows away the crate limo which costs more than three times the price of this baby.
Features
The master volume is a critical feature in any amp and this amp has one. It has a wall adapter included. Unlike bigger battery powered amps this one uses C batteries so if you leave it on accidentally, no harm done. It is practically a pedalboard and because I'm not inclined to have anything more than some reverb and some distortion it's more than I'll ever need.
Ease of Use
If I were into computers and the like I'd probably have a heyday with it but I'm not. Apparently you can tweak all the effects. Factory settings are right on. I'm a happy camper.
Quality
I've only had it for two days so I couldn't say yet, but so far I like what I see. I treat my stuff very carefully so it will last for 20 years.
Value
Absolutely!!!
Manufacturer Support

The Wow Factor

"Nice amp until it broke after 6 months and then was not repaired"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I used it for six months, and now have been waiting over two months (total - there were other delays) for it to be repaired.
Sound
Great sound. I tested other amps, and this one sounded the best.
Features
Nice features - I actually play a ukulele through it (I'm a comedian).
Ease of Use
I could figure it out without a problem, even though it was the first amp with effects that I've had.
Quality
It broke after six months.
Value
It was a very good value until it became a large paperweight.
Manufacturer Support
They have been terrible on service - not sending a power cord they said they would, telling me if would be 3 - 4 weeks and then, when I inquired after 5 weeks, telling me that the tech would "start working on it soon." First they make a defective product, and then they won't repair it promptly.
The Wow Factor
Sex appeal? Well, if someone with a disease has sex appeal, then . . .

Vox DA5 Mini Amp Customer Review

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
the speaker is tinny, and doesn't sound as good as its nearest competitor, the roland microcube.
Ease of Use
too many whistles and bells make what should be a no brainer into some work. the lack of versatility in effects selection doesn't help. don't expect to use more than two effects at one time and usually no more than one.
Quality
i am not sure how it will hold up. looks fine.
Value
it should be priced around the same as the roland cube 15, about 95, online.
