There is real innovation in the VLT. You experience it the more you use it. You would use an INCREDIBLE amount of time and money getting 3-4 other singers together, teaching them vocal lines, then buying the gear it takes to make people SOUND like this, AND THEN finding and paying the other guitar players/percussionists who would back you up (via the looping capabilities). But, if you did all of that, when would you find time to actually PLAY music? I expect to use the VLT for a LONG time.
Sound
It sounds perfect. The VoiceLive Touch is an OUTSTANDING piece of gear. I am SO happy with it right out of the box! If you play acoustic guitar and sing in a live situation, this piece of equipment will ONLY help you. I feel like I'm a good singer and an OK guitar player. The VLT is changing how I think about what I'm capable of as a solo artist. Do yourself a favor and get the 3 Button G-Switch Footswitch. You WILL use it!
Features
This is a vocal processor first. As I've used it, I've realized that you really need a good acoustic guitar DI as well. I have an LR Baggs Para Acoustic and I love the way it all comes together now. WIth OUT a good DI, I feel like the VLT tints the sound of my guitar in the loop. Now, I MIGHT be doing something wrong, but I hear a different guitar sound in the loop when I go straight in and my guitar has a very nice tone normally. The vocal harmonizing capacity of this unit is AWESOME. I used it for 2 songs that I played at a local High School 36 hours after I opened the box. It AMAZED people. There were kids looking around to see where the other singers were.
Ease of Use
There is a learning curve to everything. This is no different. Be sure to utilize the software to drag and drop which sounds you'd like to have close together. TCH has made it SO nice. PLUS-they have some fun stuff you can put on your VLT in addition to all of the presets. It seriously expands the number of options you have.
Quality
I've only had it a week and I love it. It seems sturdy. I hope to be using it for a few years. I LOVE this thing. Seriously.
Value
You can spend a lot more money on just a harmonizer and a decent loop pedal. You DO have options. I feel like TC Helicon looked at what people really WANTED and directly addressed THAT in a decisive and powerful way. I don't NEED the top of the line looper. They cost between $350 and $550. PLUS a vocal harmonizer? That is a LOT of cash. This unit gives me EVERYTHING I need to do what I do well.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to call.
The Wow Factor
I don't know of another product like it. Especially the fact that it is BUILT to go on your mic stand. FREAKING GENIUS. And I can have a pedal with customizable button configurations? Ok. Now I just sound like a salesman. Let me say it "I do NOT work for TC Helicon!" The thing is just THAT COOL.

"Great idea, INCREDIBLY well-executed!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
If you're a vocalist, and ESPECIALLY if you do an acoustic solo thing, this is almost a MUST!!
Sound
The quality is what you'd expect from TC... exceptional! There are very few vocal sounds you wouldn't be able to get out of this unit, from sweet Beatles doubling to full-on T-Pain auto-tune, lush reverbs, megaphones and other cool special effects. The global tone is a great simple way to get a nice sound, with tone shaping and dynamics in a simple to use preset form. The guitar/MIDI/MP3 tracked harmonies are AMAZING... never thought I'd use the harmonies, but I use them a LOT!
Features
I can't think of anything I would use in a performance situation that I couldn't get from this unit. VLoop is cool, although I don't use live... but it IS a blast to play around with at home. It's a great feature for someone doing a single act with a guitar, for instance. With reverbs, doubling, delays, auto-tune, megaphones, mod effects and more, it has literally everything... and you can use them all at once. The gloabls pitch correct is so transparent you almost don't believe it's on... but it's FANTASTIC when your voice starts to get tired after song 42 toward the end of the night! The only thing you have to be careful of is relying on it too much and becoming lazy. on that note, it would be nice to have an alternate 'monitor' output on this machine which you could utilize to feed a non-corrected signal.
Ease of Use
The unit is well-layed out, with the whole touch interface thingy working incredibly well, and the stand-mount is very handy! In fact, part of the fun when performing is being able to tweak and experiment on the fly. As a guitar player too, I'm definitely going to get the foot switch to be able to turn harmonies on and off on the fly. The Voicelive Touch was designed to put all of these cool features at the vocalists fingertips, and works well... SO well that I'm sure you'll have sound engineers pissed off because THEY aren't controlling everything. Just do what I did... tell them that they don't ask me to to put my Boss GT-10 guitar processor at the board end of the snake, so why should the vocals be any different!
Quality
The unit seems to be built very well. The only thing that worries me slightly is the touch interface. I've seen stuff like this go wonky before, but I presume TC would have made sure this was good and sturdy as well. I guess only time will tell...
Value
6 words... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! You can find units that claim to do SOME of what this machine does for less money, but none of them will do it all, and none of them come close for effect QUALITY.
Manufacturer Support
I'll have to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I've never had to use it... They have a great reputation, so I would hope they would protect that by providing good support.
The Wow Factor
This is a FANTASTIC piece of gear... both from a practical standpoint, and in terms of "SEX APPEAL". I absolutely GUARANTEE you will add at LEAST 4 or 5 songs to your setlist (or maybe WRITE four or five NEW songs) based on what you can NOW do with this unit in your arsenal! (...and you haven't LIVED until you've shut up that drunk in the front row who's been requesting "Sweet Home Alabama" all night by playing it with auto-tune like T-Pain!!)

"A Box Full of Potential"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
The TC Helicon Live Touch is a challenging piece of equipment. It offers a lot and in turn you have to input a reasonable performance to get to where you want to go. It seems obvious, but a great keyboard or a great guitar does not make you a better player. They give you that ability to create great performances. The Live Touch offers potential, however, you have to step up to get it. It works better if you sing in tune and trigger the loop precisely. This is a fantastic bargain for a solo performer.
Sound
I have been impressed with the qualiy of the effects as well as the loops. Pretty much, what you put in, you get back.
Features
Just amazing! This is really a hugh box full of vocal effects, just about everything I'll ever need. A footswitch is almost mandatory. I also wish it had a little more loop time or the ability to add memory.
Ease of Use
Once you learn a few basic operations, it gets fairly simple. The interface is very reliable but not always intuitive.
Quality
I haven't tried it, but it feels like you could throw it down a flight of stairs! I've never had a piece of gear that felt this well made.
Value
This box is the most fun I've had with a piece of gear in years. It does everything well and has a set of features that are fantastic and useful. You have to work with it to get a decent performance, but what you get back, sonically, is well worth it. $$450 - $500 is a lot pay for a normal effects box, but this is so much more than that. I've found that I can play with the Live Touch and a Mackie SRM450 without using a mixer. There are so many ins and outs! I love this thing!
Manufacturer Support
I assume it will have good support due to the excellent reputation of the company. However, I have not had a need to call yet.
The Wow Factor
Pretty sexy for a effects box! It is well built, thoughtfully engineered and fantastic sounding.

"Great product for any vocalist"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This is a great product for any vocalist, whether you can sing or not. If you want to get you voice in order to accompany a group, or just your own guitar or keyboard, then this is a great addition. There are hundreds of presets which allow you to find voice settings to suit the voice needs for any occasion. All the individual options can be configured to fine tune as well. 25 favourites which can be easily changed ready for use in live or recording sittuations. If you play an instrument and sing at the same time, get the available foot switch as well. All in all a good product. TC Helicon recently released new firmware for these units which extends editing options, features and foot switch interaction options.
Sound
Sound quality is very good and more than suitable for either live or recording purposes.
Features
The unit is extremely robust. Like all equipment of this type, there is a small learning curve, but in my own case I found it easy to use and navigate. It has more than enough options to keep even the biggest techno file happy.fits nicely onto a mike stand and looks professional as well as being functional for its purpose.
Ease of Use
Very easy to get great sounds from this device. Some tweaking can be involved but at least when you find the sound or options you want, you can save it so it can be recalled again. The device comes with proprietary software that allows you to backup all your filings and stored settings as well.
Quality
The unit although not large is rather heavy, rubber coated case and robust front selection screen. All in all, a well made unit, obviously designed for stage or on road use. Although I haven't tested mine this way, it looks like it would handle a beer spilt across it as well.
Value
It is a fair amount of money for this unit. Isit worth it?. In my view yes. Well made, great sounds for you voice, even if you voice is not too crash hot to start with.
Manufacturer Support
I had not delt with TC Helicon products before I purchased the voice live touch and associated foot switch.

"TONS of potential if you get through the learning curve and manual."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I suspect I'll still be finding out new things for years. I would likely replace this if stolen as nothing else on the market really comes close to the level of features and controls offered here.
Sound
I've been able to use VLT in a couple practice settings with different speaker configurations. So far so good, as usual effect devices that use a mic as the input source can vary from room to room but so far it has been pretty tolerant and consistent. High quality sound as would be expected from TC Helicon.
Features
Anybody mixing their own sound and using this will appreciate the touch feature and the quick access to a master level dial. No more scrambling for the board or trying to get the attention of the sound guy you just met during setup. The touch interface is much more sensitive than I thought it would be, it will detect the lightest touch you can imagine but yet doesn't trigger off an object or even your finger in a glove. I'm intrigued by this. ; P Heat sensitive??
Ease of Use
Here's the only bummer. The manual was a total let down. The 'quick start' was as expected but the full manual.. oh my. It's clear the loop feature is what they are concentrating on. You really have to dig deep into the edit mode to try and find basic effects. Take for example a simple operation like setting the delay. Enter the delay edit mode then select a delay "style" 1-17. There is nothing to tell you what style 1,2,3... etc are. Plan on spending hours writing your own description. Cmon TC, include a list. : / Hopefully something will be made available soon. Plan on doing the same thing for your reverb, double, mods styles. And what the heck is with the software??!! I expected the voice support tool to allow me to really dig into the editing of patches. All I can do is move presets around... really?? My previous vocal effects systems, Guitar mod multi pedals with USB interface had PC editing ability. Very little info in the manual about.. *PATCH EDITING *Vocoder operation *Where / how to get .Syx files for import *Voice support software and what the action / menu icons do *Preset parameters (would be nice to know if your trying to create a favorite... you know so you don't have to re-invent the wheel every time you create a new favorite) Pages and pages of information about looping. So yea, that's cool if your into that.
Quality
Feels like they crammed a lot into that little space. As mentioned the touch interface is high tech compared to the on / off switches and dials I am used to using. Time will tell how it holds up. Physically it feels tough as nails.
Value
Purchasing anything TC Helicon hurts a little. For me it was worth the 300 extra dollars (over the competitors offerings) for the control that this offers.
Manufacturer Support
Ok, so the tech support responses are really good and they were very friendly, they deserve an 8 or 9. It's just I felt some of the questions I asked shouldn't need to be sent to the company. A little more attention to the manual or pre-populating some additional knowledge on VoiceCouncil would have prevented hours of searching FAQ's and forums. Being so close to product launch there is understandably not much community information yet.
The Wow Factor
Heck yea, this is a cool new approach that works well for me.

Don't know where 2 begin! It has more presets than you'll ever use, but in this case more is more. The quality of the sounds that come out of it truly amazed me. I've dealt with other processors, but none gives you all this right at your fingertips. I do a lot of research before i buy something i'm not familiar with, i read a few negative reviews and i'm convinced that they didn't know the capabilities of this mighty machine. All that's interested in a vocal processor do yourself a solid and get this unit.

Extremely well built, Awesome Harmony's and EFX's! I simply cannot say enough good things about this unit!. I opened the box, read the Quick Start, plugged my guitar in, chose a preset and started singing. I literally started laughing out loud. The sound is nothing short of fabulous! The Harmony's follow the chords you play perfectly, from simple chords to "jazz" chords. The dynamic sensitivity is extremely accurate. If you sing a quite phrase, the harmony's react in kind. Sing loud and the sound opens up! Just like real backup singers. Oh yea, beautiful harmony, perfectly in tune. Studio quality sound. Easy to use. The only thing I wish it had was a power on/off switch. It has a "sleep' mode but the only way to truly turn it off is by pulling the power cord. I plugged it into a power strip and just turn off the strip. Other than that, this is a well designed, great sounding piece of gear! Love It!!

"Major delay/reverb level issue."

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I'm already in the process of sending it back. I have full intentions of making another purchase from Zzounds.com.
Sound
My experience is 20+ years as a singer/bass player/audio tech. Being in the market for a vocal processor, and after reading so many raving reviews about the VLT, I had to get one. Initially I was attracted to the all-in-one-compactness and ease of set up as well as the innovative stand mounting/touch screen, which is quite impressive. Though I wasn't nearly as bowled over by it's sound as many of the people were in the reviews I had read. The sound was quite synthetic and "pitchy" as a matter of fact. And, the utter lack of editable parameters hinders the ability to fine tune the effects and many times leaves you with only one option... adjusting the effect's level. That being said, you should be aware that the way the signal flow is configured by design, rendered the VLT to be useless IMO. Let me explain: For what ever their reasoning was, TC "tied" the reverb and delay effects together internally. The result of this is that when you attempt to adjust the delay level to your desired amount, you will find that although you've lowered it considerably, that you are still hearing a lot of delayed signal. After turning the delay level all the way down to "off," you'll still hear quite a lot of delayed signal. Why is that you might ask? (Good question, I asked it myself) It's because the delay signal is still passing through reverb effect, pre-fader if you will. At this point, your only option for lowering the delay level becomes lowering the reverb level. What does this mean in plain English?... If you want reverb on your vocal, you're getting an equivalent amount of delay with it whether you like it or not! I'm not making this stuff up... TC's tech support say's this is normal and intended operation and is not a malfunction. My jaw still has a bruise on it from when it hit the floor. Needless to say, I had no choice but to send it back. ZZounds was very cooperative in regards to this and their customer service is second to none.
Features
It is hard to rate the VLT's features because it has just about everything that a vocalist could ask for as far as effects are concerned, but it lacks terribly in editability. What would otherwise be a 10, I have to give a 5 though could very well be much lower considering the delay/reverb issue. There is a looper which could be cool if you're into using one. One feature that I would have liked to see on a processor at this price is a line input. This would allow for the use of an external preamp.
Ease of Use
The VLT is actually quite easy to use once you learn how to use it. However, this can take a little while considering the shear lack of included documentation. The supplied User Manual is incomplete to say the least. As a matter fact, if you want a more informative (though still very much incomplete) User Manual, you must go to TC's website and download/print your own. All of the information necessary to operate the VLT is still not included here. There are videos on TC's site that are quite helpful in some respects. Many of the features and functions must be learned by hands-on operation and scrolling around experimenting with it. Though once you do these things and remember them, it is pretty nice to work with.
Quality
There can only be good things to say about the innovative design and build quality of the VLT. In this respect, TC hit the ball out of the park.
Value
How do you place a value on a feature-packed device that doesn't work as it should?
Manufacturer Support
I dealt with TC support via email. They responded once per day, except for when I finally narrowed down the delay/reverb problem and asked them specifically if this is a problem or is it normal? It took them two days to respond that it was normal; though it is clearly not normal.
The Wow Factor
The appeal of this product is in it's form rather than it's function.

"Magic box with intuitive interface and powerful features."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I think you will not something better. If you are a singer and want to have "sound engineer in a box" - that's for you.
Sound
As for me TC always sounds good. I had to apply only small correction on mixer and that's all. You can't adjust almost anything inside the box, but its adaptive algorithms gives a good result.
Features
I would say 10. But... This device is positioned as a looper. But I don't need looper. I need vocal processor - that's all. There is almost everything you need from vocal processor: Chorus, hard-tune, delay, reverb, voice double, harmonizer. Easy enough to plug the device to the computer. But the only thing you can do with computer is to rename the presets... Well - that's good, as there is no other way to do it inside the device's interface.
Ease of Use
Manual is poor. But it take about several hours, and you feel very comfort with the device. Commutation on the rear panel is little bit inconvenient. To many connectors at the small area and I feel it can damage input of the device. Not all jacks are suitable for the device - because space is limited. So, you have to think about compact and reliable connectors with flexible wires. One more thing. You cannot edit nothing. So if you choose some type of effect you can edit only its output parameters (level, width, tempo), but you cannot change its inside parameters. Well, that's TC Electronic policy. But actually TC make its work good. So if you don't like to go deep in the settings (sometimes I do) VoiceLive touch up for you. Actually you can adjust 5 banks of 5 presets - you will never need more. As for me big disadvantage: you cannot run the device on battery. Only power supply.
Quality
I think it crafted good.
Value
This device is more democratic from the viewpoint of the price comparing to other TC products. Well. You recieve everything in one box for 500$ - not bad.
Manufacturer Support
I had a question and received the answer during couple hours.
The Wow Factor
"Must have for live gigs" - no doubt.

I really enjoyed my voicelive for 4 months. I just finished paying it off through the Zzounds 4 pay installment plan (which is great by the way). But, today the unit made some popping noise and just powered down. It was totally unexpected. I never had a problem until today, but I guess something burned out in the circuitry. So, I can't say I wouldn't buy another VoiceLive Touch, but I am leary. And, now, I have to deal with the manufacturer for warranty repair. I hope they make it painless, the unit is still under warranty for a year. I only use it in my home studio and not even all that often, so I am surprised that for such limited use, the unit quit working. Just thought I would let you know it's not all roses and hope you get one that is made a little better than this monday morning unit. Good luck!

the tc helion era of vocal processors is a good one . the system has a lot going for it BUT...to slave a voice to a system that you have to tie to anotHer instrument instead of a voice is where it needs improvement. ( unlike a combo of a boss ve-20 or digitech 300/400 & a modified dgitech vox whammy/volume pedal on minimal settings) tho it does offer a lot. thankfully the dreadful autotune you can controlso one does not wind up sounding "fake" as most currrent radio pop stars do. it is great for adding to ones vocal sound & the sound of the group but it should not be a substitute for talent & natural voices rocking out a tune. like guitar,bass,keys..it is a effects add on,that's all & tho well built, the price is still a bit more than needed..
