I've owned this unit for about 4 years now. I use it as my primary DAW interface and also I use hiZ inputs for playing guitar.The unit has been really stable on my PC setup, Windows 7 32bit & Windows 8 64bit. A lot of stability comes from the firewire chipset so I wouldn't blame drivers that much (mine is LSI's FW322, separate from motherboard chipset).While playing guitar through guitar rig I got overall latency (input, proc, output) as low as 8-9ms which is about as low as you can get with firewire units. Input latency was about 2-3 ms.Haven't had any problems so far so support is not an issue

I owned this unit for about a year and from day one, I had nothing but problems. The drivers are extremely buggy and caused all kinds of errors (including many blue screens) and signs of instability. Support is no help at all. As for the hardware itself, the converters are pretty nice. The unit looks great and the preamps are adequate. With TC's support and drivers in the state they are you should definitely wait for them to improve or go with another company.
