zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us.
Using this unit with a P III 800, 256 Meg Ram, 30G
HD, I have gotten excellent results both for Audio
and MIDI. The bundled Cubasis is lamer than the
stand-alone version, but it will get you started.
The 24 bit A/D's are clean, and the unit feels sturdy.
My setup took about 3 hours(WIN98SE), and after learning
to disable my virus protection program before recording,
I've been creating music ever since.

I'm using my US-428 with Nuendo and various virtual synths uncluding reaktor, b4 and pro52, and Gigastudio. I 'm getting very low latency 24 bit audio and a damn cool control surface. Not to mention I can hook it up to my laptop and I've got a portable synth rig!!! It's a shiny sleek blue so you WANT to touch it and it's been rock solid for me. BTW I'm running WinME on P4.

It's my first experience with DAW equipment, but the unit was fairly easy to get started on, after I'd read the manual. The bundled software is limited and once you've gotten everything working correctly, it just whets your appetite for the real Cubase. The faders are great, and it's a neat little desktop recording unit.

This is a great tool. Its sound quality is very good and the control for your software is really cool. I will be pumping out the tunes with this baby. It is a lot of fun!! It is easier to use the controls than using the mouse. If you have the money, this is a great tool for your computer recording needs. Better than the others that are cheaper.

I've used it on both my main desktop PC and an original iMac. I use Cubase VST and Digital Performer ... GREAT control surface support. And I love the mic pre's. Great value and power! Nothing else like it, in my opinion. If you own a computer and want to record music, GET IT!

This is by far the best thing I ever got! If you've got a good system (PIII 800/128Mb RAM/20Gb HDD/WinME) you've got it made. If you don't have the money to get a stand-alone recorder, you could do a lot worse than save your pennies for the VST version of this little beauty! Enjoy!

this is an amazing product in the programs it functions with. setting it up in reason is amazingly easy, and having a controller surface for that makes it beautiful. getting it to work with cubase or logic takes a lot more effort, but once this is incorporated a bit better, this product will be the ultimate prosumer level recording station. i love it.

The bundled software is really crap, and the Mac version
is way late, I hear. But the last user is not correct - I'm
using it with VST 5.0 no problme.

I am really frustrated because although the us-428 really is great controller/interface for the price.. they chose to bundle cubasis with it...a "Special Version" created just for the us-428... but no where in any printed information does it tell you that you cant use VST instruments with this version of cubasis. Also if you upgrade to cubase 5... cubase 5 doesnt really support the US-428... check out the steinberg website and try to find a mention of the us-428.

the cubasis manual that comes with the unit is actually the retail cubasis's manual.. not the "special" cubasis... how did this happen?

I think tascam should send all the owners of the us-428 another sequencing program like logic fun... but this time make sure that the real version of the software (that you will NEED to upgrade to eventually anyway) will also support the us-428.

i cant believe steinberg would go so cheap on this...

anyway... i'm still somewhat happy with the tascam...
