"Excellent Recorder"

For the price, this digital recorder is incredible. It allows a lot of play in your recording, from mastering your tracks, over laying them, to fades and fade outs, tuning etc. The 2 condenser microphones built into the device work well for open recording, even acoustic guitar and drums. Electric guitars allow you to plug in straight to the player, or to play from your amplifier. My only complaint is that the device does not come with an external power supply. It runs off of 4 AA Batteries, the power supply is separate.

Musical Background:

Drums for 1 year, guitar for 16 years

Rock, classic or otherwise

"Very Good Product"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Great value and sound. I use it for recording guitar and vocals. Only drawback is that it has so many features compared with old reel-to-reel recorders that it takes some time to learn to use. In today's world of digital products it is not intuitive to use you must read the manual (unless you have used a similar product). As an additional note the manual is quite good and well written.

Musical Background:

Piano 3-years, guitar 2-years, so far only play for personal enjoyment.

Musical Style:

Blues, jazz, rock, classical, some country

Great little unit. Good recording with built-in mikes. But hard to use anything but the batteries. I have had the wall plug ordered for 3 weeks and nothing. So get ready to buy batteries.

Musical Background:

Steel guitar and guitar for 45 years. 38 years on the road.

Musical Style:

All genres of music.

"Amazing Recorder"

Fantastic recorder with professional results. I purchased the external power supply which works great. However, the cable from the power supply to the unit is very short. Be prepared to use an extension cord if your wall outlet is 1 meter away or a multi strip on the floor.

"Tascam DP-008EX---Awesome for laying ideas quickly and exporting for mixing in a studio"

I use this for HIP-HOP digital beats (_Beatmakers 2 on an iphone with AKAI MK2 MIDI, an RC-505, and this TASCAM to record the ideas and this is the a great product for what i need it for which is to be a rapper/ looper/ street performer. So when i need to record some of the ideas to later on perform them I record on this and go with a little setting up but for the most part if you don't have experience with some type of hardware-analog set up or at least to be able to navigate into a menu setting while understanding how to back out and where the preferences are then your good to go. But for the guy who doesn't you might be able to get started but when it comes to mastering and all the mixing it might be hard. Now I read the manual which is what i recommend for every product you purchase because it answers all questions unless it's tips, tricks, and personal preferences from the user. I like it because I am reverting back to analog to execute the ideas quicker and it is a nice durable piece. I just got it so I haven't mastered it but i know it's CD quality and for me it's nothing more than to lay down ideas and export them to have someone else mix it for me because it exports in 16 bit....but it will still be good enough (if flat enough) to send the studio of your choice.

"headphone jack is cheap"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars

I have had this for like six months and the headphone jack is already worn to the point where I cannot hear stereo sound through the heaphones anymore, obviously kind of important to produce layered tracks. Now I am stuck looking for a way to connect the RCA outs to headphones. Really disappointing because otherwise I really like the recorder.
