The padding is only slightly more than the cloth of the bags and is no better than the bargain basement Kaces brand. My major, and deciding factor, was the fact that my Star Classic mounted toms with older black Star Cast mounts would not fit in the tom bags. This is despite the fact that the box clearly states the bags will fit these mounts. Overall construction quality was fair - again, no better than Kaces. Ultimately I returned the set. ZZ was excellent in this regard - quickly sending me a pre-paid label and posting a refund on my credit card a few days later. What did I end up with? I bit the bullet and spend about $120 more for Protection Racket bags (midlevel) - the quality difference is night and day! These bags will last a lifetime.
