Spectrasonics Omnisphere Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Sound
The sound is like none other. It totally stands out. The sound quality is top notch and would be hard to rival. When I play it, it works perfectly. There are no skips or jumps when playing. Some sounds are a lot different than others, and are sometimes hard to find a place for in a song if it isn't creatively used. By itself on tracks it sounds amazing, and exemplifies quality. With other sounds it blends very well, and does not make the track sound jumbled together unless of course your other sounds are low quality, and even then, if used creatively, can sound amazing. I have not personally used it in a live setting, but I am sure it could be used that way easily.
Features
The most useful feature is being able to blend synthesized sounds with live acoustic sounds.
Ease of Use
It is easy to use if you want to put in a little bit of effort to understand what each thing does, but if you are familiar with synthesizers, romplers, or anything like that, navigating this puppy will be an adventure by itself.

This new version of Omnisphere (2.0) is incredible! Very easy to use, and the amount of content is huge! You could spend days digging through everything and still not have heard it all. On the other hand with its efficient search tool you can drill down to the exact type of sound you're looking for. One other thing that really impressed me is that the CEO of the company (Spectrasonics), Eric Persing frequents the facebook Omnisphere user groups and answers a lot of questions from user himself! You don't get that kind of customer service very often.

Incredible strings, piano and choir patches, strings being the best. Lots of great synths sounds as well, more than you'll ever use. Installed easily on Windows 8, activated easily, runs flawlessly in Reaper 64 bit. I only have a 40 key soft synth but will be getting an 88!

Had it for about a month now. I have purchased keyboards and synths since the 80s. Usually, after about 2 or 3 weeks I feel like I paid more than it's worth. But, not with my Motif and not with the Ominisphere. It has become my first go-to for producing and performing.

"Most Value in a Virtual Instrument"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
The most value in any virtual instrument I've ever purchased. The library is gigantic, but unlike other soft-synths, is chock full of musically useful presets. I love spending hours sitting down, cycling through the patch library, and playing on my MIDI Keyboard.Works for a variety of genres, but my favorite usage is hands down cinematic. The pads, choirs, and hybrid sounds are definitively the best sounds in the Omnisphere library; there are so many to choose from, with so much depth in each of them. The frequency content in the patches is generous, which means you have to cut some of it back for mixing, but that's a side effect of a larger benefit, which is that all of the rich content is always there if you need it. You can always cut back what is there, but you can never bring back what isn't.
