If you are looking for a incredibly simple and compact audio interface that will allow you to plug good XLR mics directly into your PC's USB port, this will fit the bill. I have recorded numerous voiceovers with this unit--with many listeners thinking I recorded with a more sophisticated setup. No, this unit will not make your audio sound better, but with a good mic in a good recording space, you can achieve really nice recordings with this simple device that has a small footprint.
Sound
I regularly use this for voiceovers with a Rode NT1 condenser mic and Adobe Audition--with no preamp. Sounds great and does not introduce any noise.
Features
I love the fact that it has a phantom power on/off switch, headphone jack for direct monitoring and mic/monitor/volume level controls. Another nice touch are separate lights to indicate whether the unit is powered up and phantom power is turned on.
Ease of Use
This is as close to plug-n-play as you'll get. I can't speak for Macs, but no drivers to install in WinXP, Vista, and Win7. I never had to use the manual. Just plug in your XLR mic to this unit, plug it into a USB port, push the phantom power on or off, and adjust the levels as desired.
Quality
Overall, it is very solidly built. I expect it to last a long time. But the USB jack on the unit is a little loose (I have experienced this on two units)...the USB cable can easily disconnect if you're not careful.
Value
The price is in line with other competing models.
Manufacturer Support
I'll give them a 10 because I've never had to call.
