"Awesome Condenser Mic"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I plan to keep this mic for a long time. I like it so much that I gave one to the chapel at Incirlik AFB and they ordered 3 more to eliminate 6 dynamic mics being used for ensambles. I always keep my eyes open for them on sale.
Sound
Awesome for instrument pick-up. Piano, Guitar, and chior Not for use with close-up vocals. A windscreen is avalible. My fav mic. will pick up from up to 6 feet away. Used 2 for a 30 member choir, one for a 6 member ensamble. one for a guitar and vocalist thru one mic. Very low feedback.
Features
Quiet on/off switch. battery last a long time for phantom power.
Ease of Use
Mic works great if you use it for its intended purpose. I've had some folks try to put the mic right up to their lips and hate it because its a condenser mic Not a dynamic mic,(too many pops from too much air.)
Quality
extreemly rugged, heavy duty and sleek design.
Value
For my personal taste it's a great value.
Manufacturer Support
never have needed anything fixed on a shure mic.
The Wow Factor
very practical mic. nothing too sexy

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
so far they are amazing and i wont need a replacemtn until i become an extreme audiofile...
Sound
i record my cymbals on my drumset with these (with my band). I get perfect sound, aside from having to buy a soundcard for my computer.
Features
on/off
Quality
I have taken these on the road, dropped them. hit them with a drum stick... and they continue to work perfectly
Value
it was cheaper to just buy the six mic (drums) but when i needed another for more cymbals... it was a little pricey.
Manufacturer Support
The mesh on the tip was cut, from factory, i took it to shure and recieved a replacement with no argue.
The Wow Factor
long slender black and smooth, how could you not want it. actually they blend in very well and dont really get in the way.

"PG 81 BG 4.1 - Reconsider as Performance Mic for Acoustic Musicians in Small Performance Space!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Great performance instrument microphone at at a great price. Bluegrass Musicians, especially guitar, should consider this mic. Easy on the wallet. Recording mics can be problamatic in performance. Happy to have a couple to work with. Simplified my life considerably as we mix ourselves in performance!
Sound
Surprising for such an inexpensive mic. Very good on acoustic guitar in performance setting, works well on banjo and decent on mandolin. Excellent feedback supression. I've read some many neg reviews on BG and PG mics, I was truely suprised. In a world of expensive recording microphones, performance space is overlooked. I had to ditch my recording mics live as they are just too sensitive and give me feedback hell in a live performance in a small space. It just sounded really good in the monitors and was loud and sensitive with Blugrass instruments! Electret Condensor at a dynamic mic price!
Features
Basic Setup Microphone. On off switch. Phantom Power
Quality
Shure Quality.
Value
Recognize performance advantages of this type of mic and price performance.
The Wow Factor
Get over the PG or BG low grade 2nd tier reference.
