Unless I get a pro radio gig, I expect the PG42 will be my primary or interview mic until it dies...or I do!
Sound
The mic sounds like me. I am currently pod-casting ministry services as an Army Chaplain in the Philippines. My office is hardly a recording studio, and if you think I'm turning off the AC here, think again! Audacity noise remover does a GREAT job of taking out the AC noise and the mic is crystal clear. Diction is sharp and I am realizing I make too many smacking sounds before speaking. Using the PG-42 is going to make me a better speaker!
Features
The shock-mount is solid and effective The travel case is first-rate and reinforced at all corners, as if the designers actually travel! The low-rolloff switch aids greatly in cutting the amount of AC noise I have to deal with post-recording. I am learning to have a more critical ear, but the built-in pop screen seems quite effective to me.
Ease of Use
plug and play. The control switches do exactly what is described, and are effective in accomplishing their purpose!
Quality
I mentioned the construction above. I will say that the first impression is that the PG42 is a working professional's device. It doesn't feel flimsy, delicate, or prissy.
Value
A definite step up from the entry-level, I feel I got my money's worth and will continue to do so for many years!

The Wow Factor
A beginning podcaster, I spent more on my initial setup than is recommended, but I am confident that the PG42 gives me the best sound I can get for under $500 in a microphone
