Shock mount looks a little cheezy. So what? With roll off and 0 and -15db settings, what else do you want from a $300 mic?
Quality:
It's been dropped once. No difference in performance.
Value:
For the money, you can't go wrong.
Desirability:
great value for you $$. It's a smart buy.
Sound:
I've worked in radio for the past 8 years and have worked with many different microphones and I would have no problem putting this up against any mic I have used. We currently use the KSM 32 at the radio station I'm at, and I prefer my 27 hands down. I'm sure if you wanted to spend a couple grand on a mic you'd notice a difference (but if that was the case you wouldn't be looking at this mic).
Ease of Use:
Plug in an go.
Support:
Haven't needed it.
Overall:
I got this as a starter mic for my home studio. I now plan to always have one.

The Shockmount was very useless it broke on me the firstt month ihad it the bands jus sanpped and the mic fell then did not work which then i had to return it for a new one and get it fixed which the customer service at zzounds did a terrific job on helping get a new one quick easy and FREE jus how i like it.. when i got it it sounded jus as it did before...
Quality:
As now ive been recording on many different types of mic i relized shure as a company does not have any really good mics they are too far behind in the microphone production... as we all know one of the more popular mics in the united states right now is the shure hand held ... but not much has changed since the original models came out ... only the look is different many of shure mics sound extremely similar in there characteristics which actually made me stop workin with shure for a while...
Value:
deffinatlly not worth the price.... no shure mic really is i found so many different mics with half the price of this mic and do exactly the same thing...YOUR BUYING THE NAME NOT THE MIC!!!! i found out the hard way from reading reviews on this "Great Mic"...
Desirability:
It looks like a decent studio mic ... it would like greta if it had the macthing shock to go with the body of the mic.... Shocj wasnt sexy at all... was not impressed
Sound:
The sound of the ksm27 is a very warm feeling ... the only thing rong with it it picks up every little noise in the background this is truley a stage mic i wouldnt recomend it for a home studio unless u have a great sound proof room... once u record with it u will understand why it should only be a on stage mic...
Ease of Use:
It was very easy to use Theres A mic ... Cable ..Phantom Power... Computer what else is there to know....
Support:
suppurt was easy and great all i did was ship the mic back to zzounds and they helped me and got my mic back in less then 2 weeks... pretty decent job i really was expecting for a while since it was round christmas time ...
Overall:
i found many other mics now i have a mic collection ranging from 100 dollar mics to 700 dollar mics and some of my 100 dollar mics have better use to me then this one very sad i know ... i use it to record myself when i take showers... like who cares if this piece of junk gets wet...

10 out of 10Feature:
Unless you are a real traveler then there is no need to buy the alluminum case, the factory box is perfect, shockmount, velveteen mic case, stand adapter and great padding. Im going to get the case anyway because boxes only last for so long.
Quality:
STURDY, RUBBER BAND FOR THE SHOCKMOUNT PROVES TO BE A LITTLE MORE DURABLE THEN THEN CONVENTIONAL ELASTIC BANDS!!
Value:
FOR THIS PRICE WHY NOT BUY TWO, THEY SOUND EVEN BETTER AS A STEREO PAIR.
Desirability:
IT DOES KINDA HAVE A DULL LOOK, BUT LOOKS DONT MAKE GREAT RECORDINGS!!
Sound:
Accurate,Crisp Sound. Had a little bit of problems when i first recieved it, the vocals were coming out to low, even with my mixer cranked, so i put a pre amp on it, PERFECT!! I later read a couple reviews for it on google and only bad thing i saw about this mic was that even with phantom power, recordings come out a little bit low.
Ease of Use:
PLUG & PLAY!! (USE A PRE-AMP) OR YOU WILL HAVE TO NORMALIZE EVERY TRACK YOU RECORD!!
Support:
I HAVENT HAD TO CONTACT THEM FOR THIS MIC YET(PROBABLY WONT HAVE TO), BUT I PURCHASED A WIRELESS MIC SYSTEM FOR MY CHURCH, AND IT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS, THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL.
Overall:
"ITS NOT THE BEST BUT, IT WILL DEFINTELY GET ER DONE!!

Well, the roll off and pad are very precise, you can even see in your spectrometer the diference with and amazing control (sorry for the spelling)
Quality:
Ok, i got some troubles with the shockmount, it seems the screw that holds can be a little chessy (sorry but its true) More that one time i had to stop the recording because the shockmount didnt hold the mic.
Value:
For the price and the sound you can get i think honestly is a bargain
Desirability:
If i lost it im sure i would buy another one
Sound:
This was my very first profesional mic in my carrer.
I honestly say that Shure was never let me down, with a little perspective and good ear you can make recordings to be fluid and crispy, i love this mic for snare drums, of course voice, or just for a fun ambiental mic. A little EQ (sometimes) and a good preamp and... you got a winner. I feel this mic is like a little teacher, just talk to him and he will give you an answer. i give it a nine cause i think there are better mics, that`s all.
Ease of Use:
Use your ears, the ease of use is within yourself i think
Support:
I didnt had to use it so far, but im shure they are all gentleman.

Very, very nice, you wont get any complains from your clients

Lets face it, this mic can do anything and everything. It has the ability to use either 0 db or -15 db recording which makes this mic that much more irresistable. This option gives you the ability to record anything at any level and still maintain a great sound without any sort cross distortion. It provides perfectly clear reproduction of every vocal or instrumentation with virtually no white noise!
Quality:
Extremely durable. this mic will last a lifetime if taken care of. dont be afraid to use this mic and carry it with you. its extremely rugged design can withstand the bumps and bruises that may destroy or damage other mics. When i bought this mic, it came in a soft velveteen lined pouch perfectly taylored to keep the mic protected. the quality of the mics construction is flawless, its as if it were hand crafted.
Value:
Excellent buy! You will not find any other mic like it in this price range!

10 out of 10Feature:
For the price, you couldn't ask for more. The locking shock mount makes it useable in any orientation. I didn't need the rolloff or pad switches, but they're nice to have.
Value:
If you're starting out setting up a studio and are on a budget, this baby performs with the best mics out there at half the price! You can't go wrong! Highly recommended.
Sound:
I looked at a variety of higher end mics including the $700 KSM44. I'm sure the higher priced ones are better, but I certainly couldn't tell the difference. This KSM27, is absolutely breathtaking! I used it to record male and female voices, acoustic guitar, acoustic contra bass, saxophone, clarinet, and both wood and plastic recorders.
The reproduction is spot on! Its accurate across the entire frequency spectrum, picking up the deep growl of the contra, the biting edge of the saxophone, and the smooth sweetness of the clarinet with equal accuracy! And the vocals were rich and detailed!

depends on ur voice but generally at3035s and rode nt1000s have been getting better reviews in this price range. that doesnt make them better since its always a good idea to try different mics out before purchasing.
Desirability:
nice looking
Sound:

Adjustable polar patters would be nice, but what can you excpect for the price?
Quality:
Quality Control seems good.
Value:
Great for the money, although the Rode NT-1000 might be a little lower in noise for the same price.
Sound:
Fat, yet articulate. A little on the noisey side, but passable.
Great for kick drum and vocals. Good for many acoustics and some guitar amps.
Support:
Chances are you'll never need support. I've dropped this mic a couple times. It's ridiculously solid.

For the features and sound it's A-1. And it's made in the USA!!
Sound:
Pretty good response, full sound. Not as warm as tubes but a pre will fix that.
