It would be very hard to get anything in this legue in any price. Two thumbs up for Sennieser.
Sound
I use 12 pairs of these in a pro studio running out of Hear Technologies digital headphone mixing systems. I would never record a session without them. Musicians always ask for them once they have used them once.
Features
Cable could be a little longer, but otherwise pretty good.
Ease of Use
These are comfortable and have really great ergonomics.
Quality
These get dropped all the time and are fine.
Value
I love 'em. We are buying 18 more for Studio B, and post rooms A and B.
Manufacturer Support
One had coffee spilt on it and they fixed them quickly and for free.
The Wow Factor
Very good looking. Nice silver and black velvet design.

"Ideal Headphones for classical music"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I don't see any reason to replace this product. More than that, if it would be stolen, I would by the HD 580 again.
Sound
The most natural sound I ever heard from headphones
Quality
This is really terrific product. I bought it in September 2002 and it works as if it's new. I work with this headphones 6-8 hors a day and sometime forget I have them on.

"Sounds as good as its big brother for a better price."

The 580 looks to be a keeper till it drops dead, or I can't find replacement parts. I once paid a similar price for Sony Studio Monitor Phones that crashed after 3 hours of use. I look to buy Sennheiser from now on, unless somebody comes up with plazma phones for a decent price. Sure.
Sound
The 580 is clearly superior to any headphone I have ever tried inclusive of those costing much more. After a mixdown using the 580, I then monitor the mix with a pair of Carver Amazing Loudspeakers and make the any adjustments required. However, these phones are so accurate in ALL frequencie ranges, with no noticeable coloring, secondary or terciary mixdown is usually not required.
Quality
The 580 is built tough enough to handle the bumps and scrapes a headphone typically must endure. I have seen no indications of wear in the year I have used them. I am careful with my equipment though.
Value
The 580 is well worth the price I paid at zZounds.
The Wow Factor
One of the reasons I decided on this phone was it looks "too coo." Very neat appearence. No weird straps and wire bands to hang up on anything. Very comfortable during long sessions.
