Feature:
Standard single coil. Great sound, but is sometime suseptable to annoying 60-cycle hum.
Quality:
Seymour Duncan pickups are very well made. Excellent quality for a reasonable price.
Value:
Again, excellent quality for the money.
Desirability:
When I play these pickups, I sense that somewhere, Rory Gallagher is smiling!
Sound:
I play many kinds of music, from rock to blues to jazz. I play a Fender Strat, and installed a ssl-6 in the bridge, a reverse-wound ssl-6 in the middle, and a vintage ssl-2 in the neck. Wow! The ssl-6's are overwound so they can really put out some classic "Strat" sound, but still clean up nicely when you back off the volume. I love the "quack" and mid-range "pop" that these pickups give you (a la Rory Gallagher). I play through a Marshall amp, and this combination of pickups really works well together. I decided to put a second ssl-6 in the middle (as opposed to another ssl-2) primarily because reverse-wound pickups have a tendency to lose some of their power, and the exra coil windings in the ssl-6 makes up for this quite well.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to use. I spent some time adjusting the pickup height to get just the right sound and volume that works well when you go from one position to the other with the 5-way switch.
Support:
Haven't needed any.
Overall:
Great sound -- classic quack and pop!
