Feature:
NO HUM CANCELLING
Overall:
I have the Basslines Quarter Pound PJ set in my Yamaha RBX460, and the bridge J pickup is not hum cancelling. Therefore, it is all but useless to me when recording with this particular bass. The hum isn't terrible -- I can use this pickup if I'm playing live, where you have a little room for noise and hum. However, as a studio session player, I can't utilize the great J- tone this pickup has to offer because of the noise.
If you have a Jazz bass, or a bass with 2 J-style pickups, the set (neck/bridge) IS hum cancelling via reverse polarity. In other words, when the neck pickup and bridge pickup are on full blast, the opposite winding and magnetism of the two pickups together kill the hum. However, just having the one pickup, noise-city with recording. If you're looking for a PJ set, you may want to consider EMG's active or passive, because the J is not noisy on its own like this one.
