The SH-55 was designed jointly by Seymour and humbucker inventor Seth Lover. Just like the original 1955 P.A.F.s, the SH-55 utilizes a nickel silver bottom plate, butyrate plastic bobbins; plain enamel wire, an Alnico bar magnet, a wooden spacer, and black paper tape. The SH-55 uses a nickel silver cover instead of brass, which magnetically eliminates too much of the pickup's natural high-end tone. Learn More...

10 out of 10Feature:
They are just like the PAF ones; the materials in them are top of the line.
Quality:
No problems with quality -- top of the line!
Value:
Great deal at around a hundred bucks, worth every penny!
Desirability:
Gold covers look outstanding on my Gibson Custom cherry burst!
Sound:
AlbertKingVille! The description on Seymour Duncan's site fits this pickup well. I find it: smooth, warm and thick. The quality is perfect for clean blues and jazz like tones. Distortion is alright, if you enjoy "old-school" distortion. If one is looking for quality, this is the pickup to buy! I played several other Gibsons with other pickups -- these were the ones for me.
Ease of Use:
Outstanding harmonics; ease of use not a problem at all; best pickup I ever played, no question.
Support:
They have responded via e~mail within the same day; wonderful service.
Overall:
I would buy this product again, even if it failed. It is amazing for blues tones.

10 out of 10Feature:
everything you need to install it comes with it
Quality:
built to perfection, why else would the father of humbucker pickups sign it himself?
Value:
no doubt, try buying an original 1955 "PAF" Seth Lover for about 10,000.00 dollars...... if you can find one
Desirability:
this goes without saying
Sound:
this pickup has the very best articulation of note, dynamics, warmth of tone and string balance from note to note all the way down the neck. I play blues and jazz and I have tried every pickup known to man from the expensive "botique" ones to plain ceramic wax potted ones. The man for whom this is named and the one that invented humbucker pickups signed it on the back for a reason folks. It is an exact replica of his original "PAF" designed one. Just go see how much an original 1955 "PAF" Seth Lover will cost you and you'll be buying this one fatser than you can hit the checkout button. I use this in a custom SX jazz box guitar and it is the only pickup in the instrument. 1 volume control and 1 tone control, that's it. Pure tonal delight! All the pinch harmonics and definition of note you could ever dream of, PERIOD!!
Support:
Seymour Duncan is one of the finest pickup makers in the world, once again, enough said

If it was stolen, I'd find the thief, pull his you know what's thru his nose and take it back!!!
