10 out of 10Feature:
Wish it had more on mixing, little less on the duh factor
Value:
Good value, but not everything you need.
Sound:
Professional quality DVD
Ease of Use:
It's a DVD and the chapters are small enough to go back and rewatch a specific tip
Overall:
It goes from the basics (signal routing, micing and recording individual parts etc) to the advanced final chapter about setting up a room for recording and mixing and explaining accoustics. (which may be over a lot of hobbist heads)
The good: Down to earth style of the host explaining everything in laymans terms.
The bad: really skims through the mixing part.
The ugly: The duh factor. The main message when it comes to equipment is the more expensive the better. This isn't aimed at the guy happy with a simple budget setup in the spare bedroom.
This is good for people just starting out or those who are ready to make a serious commitment to their home studio. For those who want to go beyond the basics may want to look at "The Art of Mixing" or "Gorilla Recording" if your just a hobbist that isn't going to invest $2400 in a mic pre.

8 out of 10Feature:
The knowledge you will learn from this dvd is priceless. I know we all think we know what were doing but after watching this dvd you will have a firm grasp on recording and will stop buying things you don't need.
Quality:
This dvd is put together extremley well. It has differnt sections on recording, drums, guitar, bass, vocals, studio set up etc. I was able to do acustic treatmeant for about $100 in my studio that gave me an awsome sound. You can buy all the best equipment in the world b, but until you make the room sound good you'll never know thesound the engineers intended your equipment to sound like.
Value:
This product is worth it's weight in gold.
Desirability:
I wish I had this 3 years ago so I could have spent more time making music and being creative than trying to figure out what was wrong with my mixes.
Sound:
It's a dvd.
Support:
Dosen't need it.
Overall:
I love this dvd and I hope they come out with a part 2 on more about mixing.
