There are better mics out there (Neuman TLM103 is the benchmark IMHO) but for the money this (the CL8 that is) is better than any other mic in its price range. However let your ears be the judge, we all have different tastes it how we want our vocal tone to sound.
Sound
I actually own the CL8, which adds a directional switch (cardoid, Omni, and Figure 8) It was the most true and natural sounding mic I tried. I compared this to a mics in the same price range: a Rode NT-1 (a little too peaky and too much high end) an M-Audio Luna (not enough bottom and slightly tinny). (the Rode NT2000 is really nice and the Neumann TLM is the ultmate and has the best of all worlds of all of these in my opinion, but they cost much more) Of all of the mics I tested in it's price range ($199), The CL8 has the best frequency range and natural sound without being peaky or coloring the sound with too much high frequency, and it is incredibly true and extremely quiet.
Features
High pass filer, -10db pad, pattern switch for cardoid, omni-directional and figure-8 (front and back directional). WHat more do you need?
Quality
It seems very rugged, but with all quality gear I would treat it with care just to be safe.
Value
I this is the best sounding mic you will find in this price range if you like a natural, uncolored, yet warm vocal sound
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed it
The Wow Factor
It has a clean modern look to it and looks even cooler with the Samson shock mount (sold separately). The ABS case is rugged and will keep it nice. my first impression..."I gotta have this mic!"
