I am a hobbiest drummer who is in their mid 40's and played in my 20's, and again now in my 40's (after the kids grew up). I jam with some friends 1x a week, and found that I could never get in enough practice due to the noise levels of my Slingerland 9 pc (a killer set-up with 7 zildjians etc). So I had some money to burn and bought this kit over the internet, have had it about 1 1/2 weeks and am blown away with it's sound and versatility. I am playing them through some older ALTEC LANSING cabinets (15's with horn array tweeters), and the sound is just incredible. I have only jammed once since getting them, but the other guys think it's great. We were able to bring the decibel level down in the room and really balance the sound between guitars and drums and bass. I am yet to discover all its capabilities, but I am looking forward to it every day. Now I can play at midnight and not wake the family (screw the neighbors!).

Feature:
Not a knock on the kit, however, I think that for the price you should get everything you need for the kit. When I found out that I had to buy a snare stand, kick pedal and throne on top of the kit, I was a bit dissappointed.

Quality:
I have been playing my kit for almost a year and have had NO problems. Not even had to adjust the head tension.... (knok on wood)

Value:
Most people rate the value low, however, if you compare to top conventional ket, say a DW kit, they are in the same range and you get tons of other stuff/sounds/versitility with this kit. I had a hard time writing the check... but think the price is in line.

Desirability:
There is absolutely no other electronic kit that looks this good!

Sound:
Unbelievable---- If you think it sounds good live, try recording direct. Playback sounds like someone spent hundreds of hours in a studio to get the perfect sound.

Support:
Have not had to use any Roland support as yet....

Overall:
The only thig that would entise me to get rid of this kit would be the "next generation" bigger and better kits from roland.

The "V" series is by far the DOMINATING factor, in the electric drum industry. For years I've been looking for an alternative to the standard organic drum set. Something that would add a more dynamic approach to my playing. To be quite honest, I was never impressed with previous attempts to bring the set to the electronic world.

Adding the "V Session" to my 12 piece Pearl set. Has enabled me to unleash an array of texture and color, that keeps all of my bandmates on thier toes. I recomend it to anyone!
Cheers to Roland!
Sean.

Yes the price is steep and time will tell how long the sensors in the V-cymbals last (I've owned it 6 months). The quality and versatility will blow you away, (particularly if you're into recording and composing for percussion)the manuals are fairly well written. Get the expansion board, its well worth the price. As others have commented, the price is steep but this puppy appears to be worth every penny I spent.

Roland to me is synonomous with Sony. Both are the elite at what they do, and when you buy their products, you get astounding quality, but at a steep cost.

Try to remember this...you ALWAYS get what you pay for. Granted, this thing is spendy, but when you can piece together any kind of kit you've ever wanted at the punch of a few buttons, why would you waste your time w/ an acoustic set? Some peeps claim that there aren't enough inputs for more heads and cymbals...well WTF...most of you guys can't handle 11 items anyways =P (3 cymbals, 4 toms, snare, kick, hi-hat, hi-hat trigger)!

If you got the cash to drop, pick you up one online and save a grand and a half, then enjoy the music, it's well worth it.

I live in an apartment and couldn't even consider playing drums without pissing someone off, especially at my beginner level playing. So when I saw this V-drum kit, I had to try it out. (With the headphones on.) I fell in love at first hit. I bought it and have sense expanded it several times with the expansion board and v-cymbols, PM-3 system, KD-120 kick. I've improved my playing considerably and have discovered how expressive this kit really is. It just keeps getting better. I've owned it now for over a year and haven't had one problem...and I do tend to beat it up pretty good at times. Keep up the good work Roland. You've got my dedication. The price though.......ouch! I feel it im my.....wallet.

I have played several kits along this line and have found the session set to be the best. As with ANY elctronic item, there will always be something better or faster along the way. As it stands now, this is it. I have done both studio and live work and have had no problems.

I own an original set for concerts and it has really held up great. Our band needs real control of sound due to our venues in small churches and has the capabilities to be used in large halls. Now I need (want) the upgrades.....

It take time to set up drum set sounds exactly as I like them. I rarely use the " standard "
preprogramed set. It's nice with a small combo since the volume can be turned down.
Brushes do not work very well.
