"Excellent Guitar/ Excellent Value"

I'm tired of hearing how any guitar in the 300-1000 price range isn't as "good" as other guitars that are far beyond the $1000 price point. THIS IS A $500 GUITAR AND IT PLAYS/FEELS/SOUNDS BETTER THAN SO MANY GUITARS IN THIS PRICE POINT. It's a Parker, if you want the specs, go to the Parker website or just read over them here on zZounds, or any other online dealer. What I can tell you is that this guitar is not the product of some vain effort Parker made to offer an affordable guitar. This is not a squier or an epiphone, this is a PARKER. The sustain is heavenly and unending, the tone is brilliant (bright and warm simultaneously), the range of sounds this instrument can produce reaches farther than you could imagine. I've had mine for quite some time, I've gigged with it, and have performed numerous set-ups (never broke a string...). I give this guitar a 9/10 because it's a bit tricky to play comfortable when seated (at least for me), I have the same issue with LP's from time to time so take into account that if you're comfortable playing a Les Paul seated, this will be no issue for you whatsoever. Please ignore people who compare the taste of an apple to the taste of pear, they'll only confuse you. Listen to those wise enough to know that apples and pears will never be comparable. We can however compare a mealy apple to a crisp one, and the Parker PDF60 is one crisp and tasty apple.

This is the 1st Parker I've owned. I've been playing electrics for 40 years and have taken every guitar I've owned apart and put it back together just to get a better feel for it. I bought this PDF60 used on craigslist, met in a parking lot, played it, it seemed fine, a good wide flat feeling neck, very light weight. Brought it home, plugged into my 1/2 rig (Line6 HD500 and powered 100w Fender wedge) and played it for an hour through most of my favorite presets. Pickups:The sound was muddier and more "run together" than my other guitars (2009 Fender Amer Deluxe Strat, 2003 Peavey Wolfgang TOL). I believe it is the dbl humbucker 2 coil Seymour Duncan pickups that cause this. It felt like they are Bottom Of the Line "value" p.u.'s. Hopefully the more expensive Parker models use better ones. Tuners:I changed strings to Elixir Polyweb .009 to .046. I have locking tuners on the Strat so I assumed these work the same. I strung the string straight through the hole, bend the string 90°, tightened the locking tuner knob and clipped the string off at about 1/2" from the peg head. This worked OK until I tuned up. I 1st noticed a problem on the 2nd string. I put my pegwinder on the tuning knob and turned it 8 - 10 times to tighten the string. The locking tuner knob loosened as I raised the pitch! I thought I was rubbin on something so I tried it with my fingers with the same result. What a poor design! The 2nd string loosened and slid out of the peg head. Since I clipped it off I cant wrap it around the peg, now I have wasted a $12 set of strings. Bridge:The bridge has adjustable saddles for intonation. They are J shaped in what appears to be an attempt to get the saddle screw out from under the string. The J shape blocks the saddle next to it from adjustment (image 6 J's lying next to each other, slide one up and it bumps into the butt of the J next to it). Poor design in my opinion. Not a bad 1st guitar, but way overpriced for the poor design of several functions.
