Feature:
However, it could use a curve adjustment. Thats my only addition to this mixer i'd like to see. If you scratch, you want this. Hard to crabb scratch without a tight curve. Also, the BPM counters are not the best. I use it to beat count my records then label them, not to match my mixes while I'm in a set. However, they'll be close and could prove useful if youre a beginner dj. Everything else is great! ALOT of output ports (rca, 1/4", xlr) Proves great for the club with a more than average complex sound system.

Quality:
Very, very good. I've actually used several of these mixers in several differant clubs. They all have differant degrees of use, but even the most beat up djm500 i've use, the thing was still bumpin' out the beats....this thing is a tank. Its also very heavy like a tank. It maybe part of the quality behind this product. It is not flimsy.

Value:
This mixer is expensive...there is no doubt about that. There are a few other mixers that may have the same features, but dont be fooled. If you are on a very tight budget, but your needs are not in a club with a huge sound system, or if youre not doing heavy recording, you'll probably want a differant mixer. BUT, if you have professional needs, you'll need to pay that professional price. There is a saying that you get what you pay for. This mixer proves that.

Desirability:
Every club dj should want this...regardless of what type of music you spin. If you dont want this mixer today, you will want it eventually as you get better and more experianced. If your intentions are to become a "turntablist" (a dj who only scratches) you may want a differant mixer..one that is designed for it...this one is for club/recording use.

Sound:
Sounds great! faders are smooth feeling and sound consistant. If you have this mixer for years, under heavy use, the faders will start to get sticky. A little oil fixes it. I scratch alot and its been two years with the same crossfader and it doesnt bleed yet! WOW. Also, the output gain (a dial in the back) will get static in it after extended use. CLEAN your mixer on a regular basis...this should help.

Support:
Im just going to say the best here. I've never called pioneer for service. i assume they're good.

Overall:
Once you get this mixer, you'll never want to replace it. If you do, you'll just want the djm-600. it adds a crossfader curve switch, and a few more FX modes. the 500 has everything you need anyways. I've been mixing in top clubs in the seattle/tacoma area for years...and MANY of them have this mixer. They cant all be wrong. I personally have a problem with its heavy price tag

Frankly, in terms of sound quality, abundence of featurs, and effects, no other mixer compares in terms of price. Only the Rane series of mixers beat this in sound quality, and most of them lack the balanced outputs that this mixer does. I do wish it had frequency eliminators on the eq's (-20db pales to the DJM-600's -24db reduction), but the effects, smooth crossfader, and solid construction make this mixer a true winner. I have used this thing at bars, school events, and everything inbetween, and it has never let me down. And congrats to Poineer for including SEVERAL mic inputs!!

I bought one when it first came out, and I can't complain much about it. There are soem things that I would like to see added on, and that is a wider range the higf, mid and bass. Another thing is knobs need to be of stronger quality, after playign for a while, the sound sticks, but i guess that happoens with everything that you use - its regular wear and tear. From all the mixers I have played with, this one really rocks. For those house and techno heads, you can really make a crowd go wild!!!

Saw Nick Warren used this baby on his Budapest GU release, and picked it up. It's quite expensive, and the gadgets were new to me, but a few months of working with it has convinced me there's none like it out there. I've grown comfortable enough to improvise on the moment with the various effects, and the crowd invariably loves it.
Sound quality is primo.
Only one drawback. I found the absence of flip kill switches left a bit to be desired. This is merely a personal preference, but the longer you sustain your mixes, the more tired you'll grow of those little knobs. All depends on your style of play.
Otherwise, the best mixer I've owned.

Feature:
Pretty Good Features! I can't complain

Quality:
I selected this mainly because my fricken cross faders broke and all these little knobs keep getting bumped during my beats. There too close together. Maybe I just have fat hands. W/E LOL!

Value:
I would've put it at ten if my cross faders didn't break!!!!!!!!

Desirability:
Pretty sweet! Turned me pro!

Sound:
Great Sound! I can tell many people enjoy it when I whip up some effects.

Support:
Good Support! Everybody wuz friendly cuz they wanted my fricken money!

Overall:
Those little knob and wobbly stability brought it down but otherwise...... best poineer I've seen in awhile

Pioneer is definatly the industry leader of mixer equipment. Kaoss pads are very overated when compaired to the easily matched and crisper sounds you get with these effects.
