Peavey XR8600D Powered Mixer

Light and full-featured, this Peavey mixer is perfect for the road. Even incorporating two 600-watt amps and 7-band EQs, it still weighs only about 25 lbs.

Peavey XR8600D Mixer Customer Review

Sound
This is a PA mixer that has it all! I have the 8300 at my school and bought the 8600 for my personal band. The new model has outputs to power both your mains and your monitors (4 outputs). The new model is so lightweight compared to the older models. It has more effects than you can ever imagine. It's a workhorse and all the music stores use this PA to rent out. That's how I found out about Peavey. It's the best!!!

"Great amp for the money!"

I received mine a week ago and I was blown away by the power, clarity and options of this very light weight powered mixer for the price. I have it powering 2 Peavey PR15s that were modified with Peavey Pro Rider 2400 watts peak/600 watts R.M.S. by me and capable of handling 600 watts R.M.S. The crossovers are dual filament Dayton 600 watt R.M.S. second order plates so the 300+ watts this amp. sends out per channel at 8 ohms is easily transformed into efficient music signal all the way down to 30hz. Even my computer DJ program sounds great in high frequency detail and low punchy base frequencies. With this little beast I don't need to take my amps and sonic enhancers for small to medium gigs anymore. I often needed a separate mixer for musician buddies that don't have quality equipment for there own gigs and this one is just perfect. When I pay this one off, I will purchase another one as backup and loos the heavier equipment. Very versatile and light weight, it fits all my needs as a mobile DJ and musician.

I purchased a "blemished" Peavey XR-8600D and am more tan pleased with the price and results. I had it shipped the low cost way and it arrived the next day. The unit produces excellent sound. Our vocal quartet has never sounded better even though we are still using our old speakers.

Musical Background:

I have played fifty-four years, 1st clarinet and sax, in recent years bass in barbershop & Jazz quartets

Musical Style:

I now sing with a mixed jazz quartet I formed six years ago. I previously played the sax and clarinet professionally.

"Faulty and unreliable"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
My band bought this mixer brand new and it's been nothing but trouble. The second time we powered it up at practice there was a puff of smoke from the back and we had to scurry around to find a replacement at the last minute. A few gigs later we were setting up and turned the mixer on. The same thing happened, except this time, the mixer blew up 10 minutes before we started our set. Ridiculously enough, this happened a THIRD time with another brand new replacement, again, 10 minutes before our set. According to our dealer, the problem was a faulty power delivery component from the peavey factory (hence why it was happening to brand new units) We've since had the problem 'fixed' by a peavey technician (instead of them replacing the mixer) but now the main outputs don't work. In hindsight we should have cut our losses and bought a different mixer after the first one blew. Its constant failure and unreliability has caused us months of stress and tarnished our band's reputation. Steer clear of this piece of garbage.
