"Perfect 10... Aside from the "Worst Factory I've Setup Ever Seen""

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is an amazing bass. The only reason I gave it an 9 is because when mine arrived, the factory setup was so bad that the strings were pressed down on the fretboard so hard they wouldn't even produce a sound. This was the worst factory setup I've ever seen on a guitar. After adjusting the truss rod and string height, it's a perfect 10. Also the batteries were both dead when it arrived and needed to be replaced before it would play.
Sound
The electronics on this bass create a very wide range of tones. I've tried other basses and none have compared to this one with Peavey's high-end pickups and active electronics. This bass could be used for any style of music. The pickups are also silent when it's not being played which is nice.
Features
Completely adjustable sound & tone - can't go wrong.
Quality
Quality would be a 10, but I guess the extremely poor factory setup on the one I received effects my opinion on the quality a bit.
Value
I don't think you could find a better bass for the price. If you don't need the huge range of tones and better pickups that come on this bass, the cheaper Peavey Millennium 4BXP is nice for a basic bass.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed it yet.
The Wow Factor
This is my only bass and probably will be as long as it's functional... it does everything I need it to.

"Great bass for low price"

Well, I'm already looking for other basses, but that's because I'm a collector. I want other basses in addition to this one, just to get a view of other brands, other styles, etc. I'd say, comparing this with other basses I've looked at, it might not be the best out there, but it is sure damn good for under 500 dollars. In the event that it ever got lost or were stolen, I would definately go out and get another Millenium AC 4 BXP.
Sound
Pretty good sounding. Nice and quiet when needed. Can use the control to adjust so you can have mega bass or, if you want, adjust so that you can get a more guitar like sound. Nice and solid overall, works good with rock and alternative.
Features
The controls they give you provide a wide array of possibilities for sound. You can fine-tune it to you particular taste pretty easily.
Quality
Product seems to be of very good quality. I got a maroon one, just looks astounding. Feels as if it is built pretty sturdy, and a nice weight to it, not too light, not too heavy. Everything is smooth and curvy, and I love the head. I've only had it for a few months now, but the only problem I've encountered was having to replace the batteries that came in it (nearly had a heart attack, thought the thing screwed up, but was perfectly fine after replacing them). I also have an Ibanez SR300DX I got before this, paid almost as much as for this Peavey, and the Peavey easily blew it away.
Value
Pretty low price I think for a very nice bass.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with the company yet, hope I won't have to. Seems like they'd be pretty easy to deal with though, easy links up on the Peavey website. You can also reach their manuals online too (I either lost mine or it didn't come with it, I'm not sure), but I was able to download the one off the internet.
The Wow Factor
I don't know about everyone else, but I love the shape of the body. The P-bass design with the elongated, slender horns, and the head is fantastic. The maroon color is beautiful, makes me want to get another to just see how good the other colors look.

"Fine bass at any price"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

I purchased one of these basses pre-owned. I was looking for an inexpensive bass as a back-up. I had researched a lot of basses under $400.00 from ESP,Jackson,Schecter and others and I settled upon the Peavey Millennium 4AC BXP. I owned a music store and had managed stores where we inventoried this product so I was familiar with it. The body which is made of agathis is a good tone wood similar in tone to mahagony. The neck is a satin maple and fret board is rosewood. The electronics are the same as in Peavey's top of the line Cirrus and at one time USA made Millennium basses. Which are EMG style pickups powered by two nine volt batteries. The electronics in this bass are just great. The tone controls make available a wide variation of tones. There is a single volume knob along with a pick-up blend knob, and a treble, mid and bass knobs which each have a boost or cut to it. This all makes for a wide variety of tones. The fit and finish are just perfect and the flame maple top is of real nice quality.Playability is good but I have found that a lighter gauge of strings makes it more playable. Even after adjusting the neck and setting the bass up I found with heavier strings such as 105 on the E string the action was a bit high, not terrible but I would use a lighter gauge of strings. I would sum this all up by saying that at $299.00 there is no better bass you could buy.I also would like to say that one of my favorite bass players out there Marco Mendoza who I saw several times with Thin Lizzy and who has played with White Snake,Ted Nugent and is now part of the super group Black Star Riders has been a Millennium user in the past

"Versatility is the key."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I like what it is and does. I have a 69 Mosrite that sounds no better and is very limited in style changes. It is made more durable, but just sounds a little different. I have a P and it sounds different. This one of the more versatile basses I have ever played.
Sound
The sound is quite good. It doesn't sound the same as my P-Bass but it sounds great. If you are looking for something that you can customize your sound with this is an excellent option. Very versatile! It can sound similar to many of the basses I have played. It can sound old school or very new wave. You get to decide.
Features
The tone controls are great! Bass, mid, treble and sweep with a separate volume. Very user friendly. I have spent hours coming up with different sounds for different songs. Once you spend some time learning the sounds it is capable of with this much control then setting is easy.
Ease of Use
Neck is great! It takes a good setup but when it's done wow it is sweet. The option to go body through with strings makes the notes sing forever and on the bridge they produce an even different sound. Intonation while not the easiest to set is easy enough.
Quality
While not flaws the fit and finish are as good as any out there. Who would have thought something from Indonesia would have been this nice! Durability seems good but ask me in 10 years.
Value
I have played and own basses that cost much more. This one has a niche all it's on but sounds great for the price.
Manufacturer Support
No problems yet. Just a simple setup.
The Wow Factor
It feels good and looks great!

"Quality Issues Sink This Bass"

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I thought I might be able to save a few bucks and get one of these instead of a Fender. Bad call on my part. Peavey service may turn this one around and I may love it when it comes back, but by then I'll have several weeks with another bass and this one might not make it back out of the case. If I knew the potential for such major quality issues, I would have passed on this bass.
Sound
This bass is really incredibly flexible in the sounds it can reproduce. I have to give it high marks on this.
Features
For the price, the features are right. Why charge for a case you may not want?
Ease of Use
It's pretty easy to set it up for the sound you want. It stays in tune and has a decent action. I bit of buzz on fret 1, but I'm sure a small bridge adjustment will take care of that.
Quality
This bass looks great, BUT they never ground down the ends of the frets. Playing it is like running your hand down a cheese grater. Once, I set it on the stand and the neck ran through my hand and actually drew blood. Today the blend and volume pots came loose from their moorings in the body. No positive stops at the top and bottom of either pot. Hate to say it, but it's gotta go back in for some serious service on what should have been caught in quality control before it left the factory or here in the US before sending it on to a dealer.
Value
Way too many quality issues. I was really hoping this bass was going to deliver more value as Peavey stuff has always delivered good value for your money. Maybe after it's reworked it will be a better value.
Manufacturer Support
As soon as I get a box to ship it in, it's going to Missippi for service.
The Wow Factor
From the little playing time we've had together I would rate this bass highly. It looks fantastic for a budget bass.

"Epic bass for a tiny price."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Ill have it for another 10 years then put it up on the wall.
Sound
I toured professionally and all I have to say is wow. I came across this bass in a music shop and the action on it was the normal for a music shop but the tone was amazing. I took it home and set it up and now its 5 years later and im still jamming on the same bass. never had a problem with any of the active pickups going out. Its not to bad on batteries unless your playing 12 hours a day for 4 months. Then of course you will be changing them out every 2 weeks. I rate this bass among the ibanez prestige series. The best thing is you get it at 1/3 of the price!! The best sound was with a Sonic Maximizer and a 8-10 mesa cab and a V-12 Titan 1200 watt bass head.
Features
Its a all around well made product. Only had to send it back once when i was on tour because I bashed the pots in and had to get them fixed. It would be amazing if it was a neck thru but the bolt on works too. Never had the neck bend on me.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use bass. No pull pots or anything. Basic low, mid, high Pick up selector and volume.
Quality
The only thing i was nervous about when i got on stage was the sound guy. Never had to worry about my bass letting me down.
Value
Never tried to sell it but im sure you could sell it for 50 bucks less than what you spent on it and get it.
Manufacturer Support
I was sponsored with Peavey for 4 years. Every time I called I spoke with either David or the head of parts. Never had more than a weeks wait on a part either.
The Wow Factor
I have the tiger eye maple top and I get nothing but good reviews on it.

The guitar serves its purpose well. Would I buy another Peavey bass? Yes, now that I know the quality of the brand. If the $300.00 bass is this much of a value, I would consider the high end basses as well.
Sound
I PLAY IT THRU A Peavey 700 watt fire series head and 4x10 and 1x15 for cabinets
Ease of Use
I have no problem with this bass. I can make it thump or shred all day. And it's as clear as a bell.
Quality
The finish is awesome. And if you're not bouncing it off someone's head or using it to chop lines, I'd say it'll last quite a while.
Value
I think it was a great value for a back up bass.
The Wow Factor
That's the beauty of the Bass. It's practical, very playable, affordable and the finish is very hot. I have 7 basses, some worth a lot (3 @$1700.00+) and the playability of my Peavey rivals 2 of those high end "boutique" basses. It's very comfortable and player friendly. I have played an entire gig with it and when you're used to a Music Man or a Tobias it's a nice feeling not to have a coffee table on a guitar strap.

"PLEASE LISTNE TO ME. THIS IS A WARNING FOR THIS BASS! PLAY IT BEFORE BUYING!!!"

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I read all the revies on this bass and i went to play it at guitar center, well lets just say it had similar sound qualities of one of those squire beginner pack basses that comes with an amp and all that shyt. My $200 Ibanez really whoops on this bass when it comes to sound and my ibanez is just a Decent bass. I spent forever trying to get the peavey lows sound full even on an ampeg 2x15 and a $800 ampeg head and it just wasnt happening. The mids both lo and hi were actually not to bad. You can make this bass sound close to a guitar, but the lows just are so weak. Maybe it was the strings but i doubt it. Not a good bass for SLAP and POP
Features
you can really make this bass sound like a guitar. The pickups arent to bad, but there really wasnt anything for the lows. Its a "bass" and thats what it lacked, "bass".
Ease of Use
you can modify the sound pretty easily. The neck was smooth and easy on your fingers.
Quality
The product is steardy, the knobs for tone, volume, and the others could come off alittle to easily if you turned it hard or sumthin. The bass stays in tune though. And its a nice looking bass =]
Value
Making a bass sound like a guitar is cool. But making a bass sound like a bass is whats important.
The Wow Factor
at first i wanted it but then after palying it i 100% dont.
