"Peavey Sound Engineering Rocks!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I play variety music in small to medium size clubs using a Hartke 250 watt amp, which is all the power I need. I prefer a smooth low end without losing the punch of the midrange sound. I ordered the Peavey Headliner 115 with some confidence in Peavey's reputation for quality and value. When I tried out the cabinet both at home and on stage, I was very impressed with the sound. It is well engineered to bring out a fine tonal and resonance quality by means of a cabinet design (hole placement, wood thickness, cubic footage, etc.) that is quite portable. Just what I was looking for in my price range. Thank you Peavey and ZZounds!

Great sound. Worth every penny spent. This cabinet offers some serious low tones and defining highs. You would be hard pressed to find another cabinet that will give you more bang for the buck. Can't wait to purchase the 410 cabinet to compliment it.

"Tour Head Should Sound Great!"

I haven't bought this one. Have been looking at the 210 Headliner, and the specs on it are great. Obviously, you didn't try the head out on the cabinet before you bought it, or you would have noticed the issues with the distortion. I always say to never take a new rig out on a gig if you haven't had it tweaked to make sure it performs properly "at level". I think you will find (as I and most of my musician friends have found), that if you take out an untested amp/speaker rig, and you don't know the head or the speakers tonal "sweetspots" and dead spots - it means that your head is punching too much or too little of something. It may even turn out that your EQ isn't doing such a great job. Might be easier just to turn it off. I did get to hear this speaker live in Philly at a gig of another musician friend of mine. It pops and sizzles...it is perfectly matched to his Ampeg head and he has that bi-amped also with an older PEAVEY amp head on the second set of cabinets. (Yes, it was overkill, but both speakers were really pumping out the bass very crisply.) I think the 210 Headliner rated at 400Program / 800 Peak is a good match with the 115 Headliner. It covers the entire range. You may have cut your Mids too much or dropped your Bass and Treble too low. I'd say just get more familiar with your rig, and it will sound much better if you either set the EQ to its optimal settings -- or turn it off altogether if it's a separate feature. Otherwise, there's always a good flat setting, and go through the PA. (Scratch that -- PA reproduction for Basses sucks).

Peavey Headliner 115 Bass Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've been gigging with it for about one month, 1-2 times per week, with no problems. I would buy another at this price.
Sound
Sound is good. I have it paired with a Markbass 2x10 500W combo and it works well.
Features
Just a simple 15 with no gimmicks. Not as high-end as say Aguilar, Markbass, etc., but for such a low price it's hard to beat.
Ease of Use
No issues with hook-up - - just plug in and play. However weight is pretty heavy and it's bulky, so travel is a pain.
Quality
Overall feels pretty solid. Felt covering everywhere along with metal corner covers. The Peavey label on front is cheap plastic that looks like it may pop off pretty easily though.
Value
Great price for a 15 that can handle 500W!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't used support yet.
The Wow Factor
Not as sexy as higher-end cabs, but Peavey is reliable.
