I was the proud owner of the value packed Valve King 100 H head. I ended up selling it though wanting a punchier overall tone. I tried other amps including the Blackstar HT metal. That head was defective. I bought it from another online music store. This amp truly rocks. Features include dampening type feature that allows guitarist to choose between tight, medium or loose attack, three separate eqs for lead, rhythm, cleans, effects level knob for effects send/return. It comes with 4 12ax7 and 4 EL34. I play through a Peavey 212C cab loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30 and a G12-75. It's got plenty of sizzle, has a pleasing and flattering lows and mids, singing and articulate highs. I'm glad I stayed with Peavey.

I'll start with the bad. No reverb...would be nice for the cleans and something to sweeten the solos/leads a little bit but they make tons of pedals for this. Wish the footswitch had seperate buttons for the lead and rhythm channels but that's very minor considering the volume boost you can get through the effects loop and the rhythm channel having more than enough gain to give me the metal sound I was looking for. The good...cleans are awesome and the EQ can change it dramatically so while there are no effects it still proves very versatile which is very important to me. Rhythm channel is amazing. Once again the EQ is very sensitive. Lead channel is ok but not necessary with the amount of gain on the rhythm. Gain is very clear defined throaty crisp and sounds great. Overall its an amazing pure tube amp for the price. If you want classic OD buy pedals for the clean channel, this is definitely a ballsy amp suited for hard rock and metal.

I love the tightness of EL34s, so after having wanted a XXX for years, but hating the trucker girl graphics, the combination of a new, classier front panel, and stock EL34s sealed the deal! This amps blows the doors off many amps two or even three times it's price!
