Feature:
The attachment points of the tightening bolts stick out of the contoured rim, which somewhat defeats the purpose of the contoured rim. Actually, this isn't as bad as it sounds. Just means you have to rotate the drum so that you can position your hands in a place between the bolts. I don't find this to be a really be a problem, but in this case the competing LP product has the upper hand since the bolts attach beneath the rim. Overall I would still buy the Pearl over the LP.
Value:
Is competitively priced with other competing products.
Sound:
As far as portable congas go the sound of this product is quite exceptional. Before buying I compared it with the competing LP product and found the sound of the pearl to be much closer to a full size conga. However, as with all portable congas the bass tone is extremely poor (in fact pretty much non existent). But on this note I would still give it a better rating than its LP competitor as at least the Pearl has some bass (even if it is quite minimal). In short, I would say the best sounding portable conga on the market.
Support:
Can't really rate this one as have never had a reason to need to contact the company.
