"Killer Cab!"

This thing is awesome; furthermore, it is built like a tank! It is huge for a 2X12, which in my opinion is good -- cramming speakers (especially 12") into a cabinet with no space, they tend to distort out and lose resonance, as well as muddying up the bottom end. This cabinet overcomes these issues. I bought a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 36 to go with it and it is a killer combo! I would put this cabinet up against any 4X12 any day. I do wish it had casters, as it is a bit awkward to carry or move about.

"BIG sound"

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
The Orange PPC212 is SOLID. It is one of the physically biggest 2x12 cabs I own and has a lot of heft to it, no doubt a sure sign of high quality construction. On top of being a war ready road cab, the closed back design and solid birch construction really lets the Vintage30 speakers project and sound massive in a live setting. This huge sound is what drew me to the Orange PPC212 when I compared it to other Vintage30 voiced cabs. Its really great at gigs as it makes my entire rig sound like Im playing in an arena at smallish venues.
Sound
Vintage30s have been the standard "all around" cab speaker for some time now and as expected these 12in Celestion speakers deliver everything that is associated with their high quality sound. Beefy, thick bass, mids that cut through the mix, articulate and sparkly high end, all that. They sound great across almost all types of guitar styles. As others have noted the name of the actual speakers is somewhat misleading. Vintage30s are some of the more modern cab speakers that Celestion makes in terms of efficiency and output, but they do have a nice bit of old school mojo to them. There is a reason there are one of the most popular cab speakers on the market! My one minor criticism, and is in no way due to defect or poor design on Orange's part is that the for some people that play mostly bluesy/classic rock/vintage type stuff the Vintage 30s might me a bit too modern in voicing. Because of the their large magnet and high efficiency they tend to remain very crisp and stable even at high gain, which makes it much harder to obtain that classic "cone cry" effect. For people that need more of that type of thing, they should check out cabs with Celestion Creambacks (my fav classic rock cab speakers)
Features
The side handles are a really nice feature for moving this behemoth, I also really love the tweed grill cover for its vintage look
Ease of Use
Getting great sounds is easy, plug your amp output into the cab input and ROCK!
Quality
Like all Orange products the quality is superb. If my other much older Orange gear is any indication about the lifespan of this product I would say that it will be getting heads to bang long after I have left this world.
Value
The price point on this Vintage30 voiced cab is on par with or slightly under other 2x12 cabs with the same speakers. Considering the quality, sound projection, and sound I think that the PPC212 is an excellent value
The Wow Factor
I love Orange products. Their history, the musicians they inspired, the sound, the quality are all things that constantly bring me back to their products. You cant forget their iconic look too. The font for their brand name, the black and orange "halloween" color scheme, and vintage styling are all things that I love about them. Sound good and look good doing it, works for me

"Best cabinet I've ever heard or played through"

This is speaker Nirvana. Sound is absolutely stunning and makes me wish I would've upgraded my cab a long time ago. All of my heads sound so much better through this cab and like other reviewers have mentioned, it's built like a tank and will be around long after I'm gone. It's solid, I chose the Orange color cuz it's bright and... Orange! Trust me you'll love it and it sounds better than any 4x12 I've ever heard and it does so with only 2 speakers. zZounds was fast and phenomenal as always. Only place I get my gear. Everything always arrives undamaged and in perfect condition, hence why I spend my money here.

"Amazing cab!"

The clarity and richness of this cab for especially overdriven sounds is just spectacular. The bass response is fantastic. It really does project, stand in front of one to find out what I'm talking about. For years I'd used an old cheap 4x12 and didn't give the speakers much thought. Once I got looking into cabs, three names had a stellar reputation for being among the best built, Mesa, Bogner, and Orange. After doing my own research I decided that the Orange was the one I wanted. I couldn't be any happier. I've got an old Peavey VTM head, and it rips..... but had I only known how good it could sound, I would've bought a better cab years ago. If you're on the fence, buy this cab and be prepared to be amazed.

"Orange You Glad I Didn't Buy a Banana?"

There really isn't much to say about this cab; it's a standard Orange closed back 2x12 with the Celestion Vintage 30's. I needed something a little smaller than the 4x12 I was using, and yet it seems like I've upgraded everything about my sound This is the sound I always thought my Peavey 5150 was supposed to have; and I've finally reached gear Nirvana (at least for my tone needs). It has the solid low end; perfect mids, and creamy highs that you seek (assuming you seek the same sound as I do; of course, your mileage may vary). It's super responsive, and sounds great no matter what I'm running in front of it. I typically switch off between the 5150 and an Orange Tiny Terror; some days I'll run 10 pedals up front, sometimes I go straight Guitar to Head; but this unit sounds phenomenal with anything you throw at it.
Sound
If you're familiar with the Celestion Vintage 30's, then you know exactly how this will sound. It is your standard rock setup; whether hard and heavy, or soft and mellow, this cab will make your axe sing.
Features
There really aren't any crazy features; it's a guitar cab. You've got an input jack, and a link jack (for connecting a second cab, I believe?).
Ease of Use
It's plug and play.
Quality
The quality on this cab is amazing; however, it's so sturdily built, that it's a hefty unit. While still very portable, it is only slightly less heavy than my 4x12 was, and it's a bit bulky. I wouldn't be afraid if this thing fell down a flight of stairs, it just wouldn't look as pretty.
Value
If it wasn't built so sturdy, I would say it's not worth it; but this is one of those cabs you'll keep for life (or until your drug habit forces you to sell it after you've become a famous rockstar and hit rock bottom).
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to deal with Orange Customer Support; but I'm sure they're super nice guys and gals.
The Wow Factor
It's a cool orange color, so that's pretty sweet. I'm worried that the orange will show scuffs a little better, but that remains to be seen.

Great speaker cabinet, can handle anything, clarity and resonance is impressive, worth the price no doubt, and must say it arrived in perfect condition, never had to return anything from zZounds even heavy things, that's probably also due to UPS whom they use, thanks again zZounds

"Orange is the new gold!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I may add another 2x12, or possibly experiment with other brands to add to it, but I don't think I'll be getting rid of this gem any time soon.
Sound
This cab is dynamite!! So much to play with it's ridiculous! The sound is so clear and focused. No muffle. It delivers PUNCH better than any 4x12 I've ever played through. I'm playing a Mesa Boogie 2 ch Triple Rectifier, and let me tell ya...they are meant to be, like chicken and waffles!! I can crank this thing up LOUD and it doesn't lose it's clarity. Orange just blew my frickin mind.
Quality
Built efficiently and like a tank. Clean, beautiful tolex. Looks great on stage. Can't go wrong with vintage 30's. The cabinet is thick, wich actually makes a difference. And the best part is it weighs around 75-80 pounds and it isn't awkward to carry. Doesn't take up any more space than a combo amp, which is great for touring.
Value
Absolutely. Worth every dollar.
The Wow Factor
I've always been wanting an Orange setup of some kind...especially after seeing numerous reviews and videos online, not to mention seeing most of my favorite bands use Orange gear live and hearing how amazing it sounds and looks. Jamming with my band I feel so much more confident...it's like having a really good hand to play.
