Okay i bought this model as a practice amp at home. It sounds okay by itself. Its a little bit plasticy coming out of the dirty cheap 8 inch speaker, the amp begins to clip the cheap speaker at practice volumes i.e. playing next to a drummer, so by itself its a decent practice amp. Now here is a secret you wont find anywhere else. I have a custom built 212 oak cabinet grade cabinet with eminence tonker and a man o war bought from zzounds. My Ampeg GVT115 crapped out on me so I decided to try something with this amp. I opened the back panel disconnected the cheap speaker and wired it to run my 212. HOLY COW the difference. This amp sounds great! I put my pedal chain n front of it and it sounds just as good as the ampeg, and its just as if not more loud. The Ampeg is loud but it distorts which is what i want..but this amp takes pedals great and sounds awesome when using a good quality speaker cabinet. Dont get me wrong I had an orange TH30 nd it is not as lifelike and responsive, but it takes pedals way better than that one, and most people in the crowd can not tell the difference.

"Good Beginner Late Night Practice AMP"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is not a pedal amp, it is a late night practice amp. The clean channel is very nice, considering its a 120 bcuks amp, however the bass is too much makes your E and A strings sound like a BASS. Likewise this is a 20 watt 8 inch speaker combo amp, so it does not distort or take pedals very well. I have a pedal board with many pedals which i plug into my Hot Rod Deluxe, and when u plug them into this amp they sound terrible really compressed and plastic, specially overdrives, distortions and Fuzz. However, if you want a nice clean cheap practice amp to play late at night this is for you, I still use it for late night practices.
