I haven't been playing long but I play often. I decided to downsize from a Keystation 61 Mk II to save desk space.By comparison the GX49 is a clear improvement. The keys travel more smoothly. The GX49 is lighter, just as solid and looks cleaner. Nektar makes custom drivers for my DAW (Studio One 3) and they work beautifully; every last button. Finally. The GX49 also has seven different velocity curves which greatly improve it's usefulness as a piano or synth. I'd recommend this line of keyboards to anyone looking for an inexpensive midi keyboard without the bells and whistles. It's just a solid, usable keyboard for a great price. You really can't go wrong with it unless you need more features.

the keys remind me of a 1930's piano - not heavy weighted keys, but very slightly weighted with some spring to it. using a weighted keyboard just feels weird after having this for a four months now. I use this strictly for recording/studio purposes. It's great quality. velocity is amazing & accurate, perfect for recording drums where the velocity really gives it that lifelike sound. I am very happy with it and half no issues with install. I was skeptical! there was not many reviews on this keyboard or videos on it so i took a risk. I'm using FL studio If they had a smaller version for on the road, i'd buy ALSO.
